Did the line really reach to Jurassic Park? When I went on Saturday, it was 80 minutes and it went only into the old Backdraft queue. All the way to Jurassic would be like 3 and a half hours haha

Well, It only did because it didn't open yet but people were already lining up.

There's a really cool moment of heat!... does that count? haha. I think that was their little way of homaging to Backdraft. Not sure if fire and screens mix well together.

Does USH have some sort of restrictive fire code? Mummy doesn't have real fire either, unlike its counterparts.

Fire codes may be tougher here, but I doubt it. I mean we had Backdraft!

It's probably just cheaper to deal without it.

I think that one of the reasons why the Florida "Mummy" has the live fire effects is that it replaced an earlier attractions (Kong) that also used real fire, and they were able to take advantage of the existing systems.

Re: Transformers The Ride 3D -- Micechat Reviews!

I agree with those who said Spider-Man and Harry Potter are better. Having been on those as well, Transformers comes in third. (I am partial to the skyscraper falling (or is it climbing?) part, which is lacking in Transformers, and HP is just the best thing since sliced bread.) I actually was disappointed in the lack of set pieces in Transformers - I expected an AA or two in there to mix things up. But also, if you've never seen those Florida attractions, Transformers will blow your socks off. My advice is to sit in the middle or back row - the front is very intense (especially with the stuff-flying-in-your-face-ness).

I think one of my favorite parts was USH's idea of an "interactive queue". It's called buttons and switches and keyboards that do absolutely nothing even though you push them a hundred times. The kids in front of me in line had a ball. The best part? There's no effect to break once the button's been pushed 100,000 times. The 100+ televisions sets in the queue? I'm at the point where I just write that off as being a USH signature, cost-saving, queue measure.

Another thing... is the floor in the queue supposed to vibrate so much? In the room with the ultra-spark (mega-spark? ugh, I'm not a Transformers fan so I can't remember what that thing's called. All-spark?) Anyway, the room with the spark thing vibrates terribly. Like, I was standing there thinking - either this is an intentional effect, or USH is going to have some serious vibration-caused structural problems, or we're having a minor earthquake.

I also saw a guy handing out chips to riders that had been evac'd (ha! a pun!) and thought that was very classy of USH. Their crew members were also very much in character - I was saluted when I got back to unload!

Overall, good times. I noticed that every 10-year old boy coming off the ride was ecstatic. And then got back in line. If you like Michael Bay movies, this is the ride for you.

Re: Transformers The Ride 3D -- Micechat Reviews!

I have always been disappointed with Universal Studios, but it has gradually improved, even though the park is still full of cheesiness and virtually every attraction there is based on a terrible film.

Transformers finally makes Universal Studios worth the price of admission. The attraction is not perfect, but it was lovingly created. And, that passion shows. The scale of the scenes is the most impressive aspect of the experience to me. The stereoscopic projections help enlarge the sets in a way that no other ride or show system would be able to achieve, and that technical wizardry is perfectly suited to this particular source material, which demands having giant characters shape-shifting fluidly, magically, and effortlessly. The fact that the story and show of this ride-through is about vehicles that are also characters helps, too, and I think Walt Disney would have really enjoyed the creativity invested in some of these ideas.

The attraction shows some imagination, which has been sorely lacking at Disney for almost two decades now.

This is true even with Spider-Man (2001) and then Harry Potter (2010). It's what many people (including me) have been saying about Walt Disney World in Orlando: That the best NEW attractions are at Universal. I'm also including Men in Black in that scenario as well as it does the target practice ride so much better than Buzz Lightyear or Toy Story.
