USH already has Transformers which is like Spiderman. Extending the show building would be very expensive IMO. It would require overcoming the steep hillside below it and rerouting of the Studio Tour (and the road it and other Theme Park/Studio vehicles travel on).

I'm curious as to why you guys think USH will bring back an old attraction (temporary or otherwise) to mark the significance of the year in relation to one movie franchise when nothing was done to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Studio itself (who is on the same property as the theme park)...

I believe if/when they bring a new ride out, it should be a BTTF II Ride to tie into the year 2015 and have new technology as it would please a wider audience.
lukebryncyz: We are rapidly approaching the real 2015, and I regret to say that for most of us ordianary people, it's looking more and more likely that roads will still be a neccesity. For this new ride/story to work you would have to explain this with, I don't know, a plot twist where Biff goes back and kills the person who invents hover conversion? Or prevents him/her from being born? Or persuades them to go into medicine instead and invent Viagra?
Also, you're being kind of vague as to what you want them to do. You don't seem to have too many details as to the particulars of this proposed ride. It's like you're saying, "Universal, make us something "epic"!". Do you want them to convert the Simpsons BACK to BTTF, or do you want them to add this additional ride to that building? If it's the latter, then couldn't they build this new ride somewhere else on it's own?
Also, there are a lot of words to describe the Universal executives who negotiated the "Simpsons" deal (possibly the same ones who worked the "Harry Potter" deal), but "stupid"? Or their "stupid descision"? Acquiring the rights to the biggest thing in the history of Television? Hardly "stupid". Most of us have no idea about the intricassies of these deals.
Maybe, and that's a BIG maybe, if you could solve the story problem, as to why the real 2015 is so much different than the one depicted in the 2nd movie(and maybe not all in a bad way)and present that to Universal, you might stand a better chance.
Also, there seem to be two camps here of people who consider the Simpsons to be passe, and those who feel the same about BTTF. Here's an idea: Retheme the ride to something that is ...here I go...neither BTTF nor Simpsons! And...will you look what I just typed! That's the sort of crazy talk that gave us "Hanna Barberra", "Jimmy Neutron" and "Despicable Me" re-dos for the same ride! Or "If You Had Wings"/"Dreamflight"/"Take Flight"/ "Buzz Lightyear"! What am I thinking!
Seriously, let's say you get your new BTTF ride in 2015, and then in 2016, some new animated feature comes out of Illumination: something dealing with action/adventure, sci-fi and/or flight: some project currently under wraps that we don't know about. (I'm just being hypothetical, I have no insider knowledge). Then we could REALLY end up kicking ourselves!
What if "Paranorman" turns out to be a big hit? The venue could be turned into some kind of haunted attraction or something.

I might not ever see the ride but I'm signing the petition anyway. BTTF should be in the national film registry not matter how old a film from the 30's was accepted in the 90's.

Re: New BTTF Ride in 2015 - Petition

It's doubtful they would do this. Specific properties arguments aside, USH is about to rip up half of its upper level to put in Harry Potter, even the Gibson Amphitheater, supposedly. And if T2 is being replaced as well, then where will they get the money to make this happen? It's like how Disneyland got relatively little while TDA poured all that money into the Extreme Makeover: Theme Park Edition.

I will be happy to see what event they do for 2015, but we know there will be no new movies (MJF's condition; Tom Wilson being completely over saying "butthead"; the video game plot not being great; Bob Gale saying "no way!") and I doubt there will be a rebuild of the ride.

Also, you have to remember Captain Eo was taken away and then put back after The King of Pop's passing. (According to Wikipedia, I know it's not "reliable" but whatever) the Imagineers got pushed by internet rallys (hint hint) and then put it back. That was about three years ago and they still haven't taken it away.

Now, we're talking about a Back to the Future ride in 2015. Any self-respecting BTTF fan knows the year we're talking about and will totally go for it. I think that if we just show enough support and make Universal believe that there is enough love still in Back to the Future, we'll get our ride. I know there is.

Count me in. That was one great ride. They should have left it alone and put the Simpsons (another great ride) elsewhere.

The difference is that Captain EO was a movie, they just put it back into an existing theater. They didn't even add back the top left corner of the screen! Sure, they made the theater bump, but replacing that film didn't take a whole lot of effort.

A new BttF ride is not as simple as switching out projectors, it is an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars. If this petition was to get them to show the old BttF:The Ride film in one of the Simpsons theaters using the existing Simpsons ride vehicles I could say maybe, but a whole new attraction...?

I really don't think there will be a chance for us to ride in Doc's DeLorean again in the near future.

Re: New BTTF Ride in 2015 - Petition

I don't think that just saying "it's probably not going to happen" is going to change anything.

If you really want a new Back to the Future ride, you have to make your voice heard. If you just say "it's probably not going to happen", then it's not going to happen. If you say "AWESOME, I'M TOTALLY GOING TO GO TO IT AND IT'LL BE A MEMORY I CHERISH FOREVER AND I'LL NEVER FORGET IT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE." blah blah blah and you get enough (enough is actually A LOT of people, don't think it isn't much. If you want a new ride that most people think is extinct you have to show people it isn't) people to say it... then I think you have yourself a new ride.

If you think I sound a little crazy (sorry, I'm not meaning to offend anyone or anything) please remember that when I found out I was too late to ride this ride, I was heart broken. Flying to the other side of the globe to see this ride wasn't an option and I thought that this was the end. This is my last slimmer of hope to see a ride like this and Back to the Future is seriously my favorite movie of all time. I can tell you that it has a future, because I know.

Plus, T.V. doesn't show BTTF that often and I think that if you just actually give someone a copy of Back to the Future, they will love it. It's just a matter of how easy it is to access. Simpson's on all the time.
I adore Back to the Future, and I definately didn't get a life time fandom of Star Wars from watching the prequels. First Star Wars film I saw was Empire Strikes Back on good ol' VHS.

I'll agree with you about the prequels. I saw Phantom Menace about 5 times and I still didn't like Star Wars until I saw A New Hope But then again, I probably wouldn't of even bothered to see A New Hope if I never saw the Phantom Menace. I don't know how that makes sense, but practically anything can spark an interest. I didn't like Star Trek until I saw the 2009 "prequel" and I just watched that because someone told me it had time travel AND the music's pretty amazing.

Star Wars and Star Trek (2009) is on T.V. ALL THE TIME. Back to the Future is NEVER on and that makes me sad. Like I said before, if someone bothered to watch BttF, I'm sure they would love it.

You could say that I'm a part of the younger generation, and I didn't really have an option of feeling the excitement of Star Wars, Star Trek, or Back to the Future when they came out. I found them on my own and developed my own love.
