I hadn't been to Universal Studios since I believe it was Halloween, 1997. We bought the 2013 AP so we get to go back next year!
My family wanted to see Grinchmas. We got there a bit later than we wanted as it was already starting to get crowded but still looked ok.
I loved the Christmas decorations and the snow.
Uh, yeah, I think those are underwear that were hanging on a line! LOL
First thing my kid wanted to see was the real snow that was in the Grinchmas area. Snowballs, even if small, were thrown.
Details on the Tree
First thing we hit was the tram ride. The wait was a little over an hour but the line was constantly moving. I don't think we stopped for more than 5 minutes a few times.
On the way over to the tram:
We didn't get a chance to ride The Simpsons as we ran out of time, but I'll be coming back many times in 2013
Here are pictures from the Tram Ride.
Someone made a "guest" appearance.....
Then some live animals made a guest appearance...see the deer?
Onto King Kong 3-D.
I could have sworn I pushed the "record" button on my camera..but I didn't. Still it was an awesome attraction. There were screens on either side of the tram and just so much going on with King Kong and a T-Rex. Tons of fun!
Tram Tour Continues...
Video of the stunt cars
Oh, that's right. We were driving through a studio. It looked like these guys were discussing a broken lamp.
Flash Flood ahhH!!!!
They recycle the water right back up to the drinking fountains in the park, the tour guide said...That got quite a laugh!
Earthquake. Again, could have SWORN I saw the "record" flashing...but it wasn't. Always loved this one though.
Jaws....ok so someone help me out. Why did I think that they took Jaws out? I could have sworn I saw a youtube of Jaws being run for the last time. Was that in Florida? I was confused but pleasantly surprised because seeing this shark brought back child hood memories of my trips to USH in the past.
Then a nice drive through Wysteria Lane
Then a short pass through Whoville!
Then a pass by Bates Motel...uh..Norman was up to something wierd...
I didn't get it but he pulled out this huge knife and...
Started after the tram!
We got away.
Then War of the Worlds set video
Then tram ride was over....Lots of things I don't remember like live actors, back when I last rode it many many moons ago. It was tons of fun!
We headed over to Shrek and got a glimpse of that. It was great show...nothing like moving chairs..
We had lunch then walked around a bit more in the shops, then headed down to Transformers as it was getting late and we needed to time things right to catch the Grinchmas show.
Before Transformers, we caught the Terminator 3-D show. Very loud but lots going on and great interaction. Great show!
Transformers...woo weee...a FANTASTIC ride! It feels like you are in there fighting but man did I get motion sickness bad. It lasted the rest of the night. I will have to remember that the next time I ride. But some of my cell phone shots inside the queue.
caught Bumblebee on the way out of the ride...
Then it was onto the Grinchmas tree lighting show.
It was a really cute show. Great performances. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, it was a VERY good day. Like I said before, I hadn't been to Universal in many years. I did get the AP for 2013 so we will definantly be back. What keeps me away is my loathing of L.A. and driving anywhere near it, let alone THROUGH it but I can put my rose colored glasses on to get out to Universal again. I want to ride Simpsons, and The Mummy.
Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas to everyone!
