Error in the USH In The Parks article.

Universal Studios Hollywood Gearing up For Harry Potter and More

Potterland is not going vertical, like it says in the article.

The steel frame on the concrete pad is actually the base of a tower crane.

Finally some real progress is shown. This drill with dirt on it is putting in holes for footings. That means soon we should see the concrete trucks rolling in. Once they get that pouring and curing the steel will start going up. Of course they will need to get the crane put together to hoist the steel.

Below is the drill in use with dirt on it.

Below, rebar piles to be used in the foundation work.

I'd wondered about that. It did look rather like a crane base.

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to this. Though it makes me wonder what the uproar on the Disney boards would look like if this much of Disneyland was behind walls at once...

Re: Error in the USH In The Parks article.

I want to note; the pictures aren't mine, they are copied from the article linked at the top of my post.

I mainly wanted to show what the progress is and used those good photos that indicate where the project is right now. I'm surprised they haven't done more, I heard they had workers there over Christmas Break when my company had a bunch of days off. But it does look like their pace slowed down.

I am not planning to go to USH for quite a while. It appears to be a lot like DCA when they were building WoC or when they were making the new entry and redoing the parade path for the Red Car Trolleys and new pavement in front of the once under construction Little Mermaid.

Despicable Me is ok but having seen it in Orlando not something I need to run to USH for. Though if you are a fan like my nephew is you will probably gets dragged over to see it. In any case if they still have crazy good deals on APs, I'll probably pick one up in about 16 months so I can get to see WWoHP a few times with it.

I was just at Universal for Grinchmas and the construction walls didn't bother me much. I noticed them in front of the Simpsons area, but other than that... no biggie. Got a little glimpse over them from the tram exit.

Glad they're adding to the park!

Re: Error in the USH In The Parks article.

I saw in an update on another site.

The tower crane is done. More steel in the area. I have no doubt they are pouring concrete this week because they have so much equipment and material around they have been ready.

Steel may start going up this week if not surely next.

Building should be taking shape in just a couple weeks.
