They don't and never had any room for Islands of Adventure in Hollywood. They Barely have room to operate the attractions they have at USH.
Correct, Universal had to make their park into a resort multi day experience to compete with what Disney had. It would have worked better had Disney not built a 4th park instead. Now people just seem to do IOA and Universal in one day, so I'm not sure how much it really helped their bottom line. I think if Universal would build a top of the line water park on property (and tear down the awful waterpark they now operate down the road) that they'd compete a bit better. But it would need to be a water park on par with what Disney has.
Planning for IOA got underway shortly after USF opened. They knew they would need more than one park to compete with Disney. However, it was always intended for Orlando, not Hollywood.
Well there is rumor that they might rebuild Wet N Wild at the resort in the future. They still have alot of land from what is still there after Vivinda sold most of it. I wish that Vivinda had not, but oh well.
IOA is a wonderful park that just need more love and more attractions, which Harry is bringing. Hopefully more will come for other islands.
Goodbye, Me Bizarro is not Monkey Joe. Me Bizarro hates Disney parks so much.Hello
I think, in retrospect, it might have been better for Universal to keep a single park in Orlando instead of buidling two. If they incorporated Spider-Man, Seuss-land and Harry Potter into the original park, I think it would surpass 10 million visitors per year, instead of the 5-6 million visitors each of the parks gets individually today.
Down with the Hat
Those attractions would not fit USF's theme.
