    Potter wait times?

So I'd like to know if Pottermania has dropped a little. How are typical wait times to get into Wizarding World, and wait times for Forbidden Journey? We are planning to go on a Sunday and Monday in May. Thanks!

    Re: Potter wait times?

I think that outside of peak periods such as Spring Break, Christmas, and summer, there are no more waits to get in to the WWoHP. As for Forbidden Journey, usually Universal has a posted 45 minute wait time, but I honestly doubt it's that long. Even during opening week when the posted time was 2 hours, the line was only an hour long. The thing is a capacity monster.

OK, thanks, Ryno. I had no idea the ride was such a people eater.

It's basically an Omnimover/endless chain of cars.

    Re: Potter wait times?

The hard part is, during peak times getting into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I wrote a guide here on MiceChat about how to survive the WWoHP during peak times. Basically the ride will never get longer than a 2 hour wait, it is hyper efficient, and super awesome. On peak days what they end up doing, is they end up closing off the land, and start to hand out return time cards, for when you can come back and experience the WWoHP, they also start a queue in Jurassic Park, where people can line up to get in.

So if you are going on a peak day, get their at park opening, walk to the WWoHP via Seuss Landing, Lost Continent.

Once you are in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, they can't kick you out, so slow down and enjoy the music. If you are wanting to do Olivanders do it first, because it will have a 4 hour wait later in the day.

After Olivanders do the Forbidden Journey, then explore more of Hogsmede, and get some butter beer, do Dragon Challenge, and do lunch at 3 Broomsticks.

Once you have had your fill, and you have taken it all in, bid a loving farewell, because you will not be able to get back in later in the day.

It depends on the weekend...if you go on Memorial Day plan on hell. But Sunday afternoon/evenings have always been my times of best luck to get in and get a beer and ride the ride with minimal/no time waiting. Last weekend, even in the midst of spring break, the shops had no lines and the ride was about a 20-25 minute wait on Sunday afternoon.

In your two days you are going to both parks right?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I thought this thread had died, so haven't gone back to it in two weeks.

Yes, doing both parks, and we will be there on a Sunday-Monday. Planning to go to Wizarding World on the morning of both days, but since you say that Sunday afternoon/evenings is good, we will check out the wait times then, too. Thanks.

We are going in July and doing two days, July 3 and July 7 (I know crowds are going to be awful, but there's no other time we can do it). Even with two days, I'm considering getting an Express Pass for one day and then park hopping so we can use it at both parks and then on the second day, making sure we have enough time to really explore WWoHP.

Neon, I'd say that Express pass is essential for both days, especially to visit Potter. And consider staying on-site (if you can afford it), since you get early entry to Potter plus the express pass for everyone in your party.

Can you use the Express Pass for Potter now? Last I was there you couldn't.

And an Express Pass wasn't needed when I was there last either, as you can hit up all of the big rides in IOA at park opening (they will be walk on), then head to Forbidden Journey and Single Rider it a few times (it will be walk on for the first few hours after park opening) before heading to USO and hitting up everything there. (Followed by a break in the middle of USO and then back to IOA to go through the Forbiddin Journey queue and do anything else you missed)

This does depend on your group comp of course, but for adults or older children (12+) the above plan would work well =)

It is NOT an Omnimover, but the ride vehicles act like them in the load/unload area. This is technically a "robo coaster" on a Kuka arm. The ride vehicles look like this:

BTW I took that photo last summer. The ride broke down just as it started for me and I ended up getting to see the whole thing with the lights on, which was pretty freaking cool and did not ruin the "magic" for me at all.

It was a dream come true for me. I normally NEVER get stuck on rides like that!
