Final ride on JAWS... thoughts

So yesterday I took what will be my last ride on JAWS ever. It was a bitter sweet day. I know that with every sunsetting of an attraction, a new experience is on the horizon, but that being said, I am really sad that JAWS is closing. I love this ride. I feel that it has been Universal's Jungle Cruise equivalent. Just like the Jungle Cruise your experience depended on your skipper/captain.

Over the years I have seen JAWS in various states, and this past year it has been in the best condition, with missing effects fixed (Ring of Fire) and enthusiastic skippers delighting guests.

But all good things must come to an end, and while JAWS may no longer be at USF, I will always hold a special place in my heart for this amazing attraction.

So Rest In Peace old friend, and may I visit you in the Yeseterland in the sky someday.

While I know that the new Universal area overall will probably be better than Amity as a whole which only had one worthwhile thing in it, that being Jaws, I'm still incredibly heart broken that its gone. This was always my favorite ride (the last time I was there I rode it probably 5 times). I'm especially saddened that I'll never be able to take my son on it with me. I'd been telling him about the ride for years but he was still a bit too young to really experience it. I was waiting until he was 5 to do it. That will never happen now. Harry Potter better be amazing.

AMEN!!!!! These are not just "rides".........these are places and experiences that some people hold near and dear to their heart for whatever reason. Universal continues to impress, even under tough circumstances such as this.

Very sad. I never got to experience it. To think I was going in May... Guess I was a little too late.

When I was kid, I wanted to grow up to make mechanical sharks.

Universal Studios, and Jaws in particular, was the reason why I wanted to visit the US.

While that passion was eventually replaced with Disney, and I never got to visit Hollywood until much later, USF was my first Universal Studios and this Jaws was the best.

Apart from the Disney staples, Jaws, Earthquake: The Big One, Kongfrontation, defined what a theme park attraction should be: lots of atmosphere and ample pre-show to set the mood to heighten the payoff that the ride itself would deliver.

Terrific experience, I wish I got to ride it more than once. As huge of a Harry Potter fan that I am, I am gravely disappointed that it has had to come to this.
