I'll be in in Singapore for a few weeks in July for work and am going to visit the new Universal Studios park that has opened there. I'm curious if anyone has been there before and knows anything about what I should expect as far as tickets, crowds, etc... I plan to visit on a Saturday and figure the best way to get there is to just take the MRT to the HarbourFront and then take the Sentosa Express to the entrance of the park. If there's a better way, please let me know.
I do have a few questions about tickets. I have read that they do recommend purchasing tickets in advance to guarantee you get into the park that day. Does the park typically fill up or should I be fine just buying my tickets from the gates once I get there. In addition, what are crowds typically like there? If they are anything like the crowds they get in Osaka then I plan on getting the Express Pass so that I can be certain that I can ride everything I want to in the park, however if the crowds are somewhere near the ones we get at the Universal in the states I can probably get by without the need of Express Pass.
I also see that on Saturday nights they have a special event called Hollywood After Hours where you can hang out in the Hollywood zone to dine and shop. At 9:30 they do a pyrotechnics show called the Lake Hollywood Spectacular. I'm not certain whether its worth it to stay for that show since you're confined to the Hollywood area. I'm especially not certain whether its worthwhile since I have a flight back home the next morning leaving at 6 in the morning.
I will definitely take photos and share them with the board. I see that the Madagascar ride is finally open since TDLFan did his report. Its too bad I'm not going later in this year when they're scheduled to have their version of Transformers open.
