I have a quick question that just came to mind- I'm also going to look up the Universal site as well for specifics- but can anyone tell me approximately how long it will take from Tokyo station or Maihama station to go to Universal Studios & if it's easy to get to by train?

I just visited Universal Studios Osaka several weeks ago and it's well worth the trip. You should be able to catch the Shinkansen (bullet train) directly to Osaka. My memory is not the best, but I believe Tokyo to Kyoto is approximately 2 hours or so. Kyoto to Osaka shouldn't be more than an hour (unless I am way off...hahaha). If you have time, check out the Osaka Aquarium which is not too far from Universal. The whale shark and Japan crabs are incredible!

From Maihama to Tokyo st. is about 16 mins. Then, the Shinkansen from Tokyo St. to Shin-Osaka st. will take approx 2:45 travel time, and from shin-Osaka, you must transfer to the local line to get to USJ. You may have to make quick connections at either Osaka St. or Nishikujo St. to get to USJ... depends on the train you take from Shin-Osaka, so the shin-osaka trip to USK will be somewhere around 25 mins. So total time, depending on the trains you take train, waiting time in between connections, etc etc... may be somewhere around 3:45 to 4 hrs.
