Smile Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

Hi, I am making a trip out to the Los Angeles area and had a question. I am debating on whether to get the VIP tickets or the regular tickets. Do you see more of the Studio Tour with the VIP tickets? With the regular tickets they still show you the same attractions in the tour? Also, another quick question. Can you use Disney World tickets at Disneyland? Thanks!

As for Universal Studios, it depends on when you go to the park. All the VIP tickets do is give you a special area that you can sit at and no lines at the attractions. It all comes down to walk on to rides and no long wait anywhere. But if you are going to the park on a not busy day. The VIP pass is useless cause it dont save you that much time. On a busy day you can see the difference.

As for Disney, you can't use Disneyworld tickets at Disneyland.

Hope this helps!

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

By "VIP Tickets" do you mean the Front of the Line Pass? or the VIP Experience? Two very different beasts.

Front Of The Line Passes also get you reserved seating and special behind the scenes meet and greets with the casts of WaterWorld, Terminator 2:3D and the Animal Actors Show during nonpeak times.

Yes, the VIP Experience is awesome and well worth the price.

We've enjoyed it about six times so far.

Plus you get an AP with it too.

Chris is our favorite VIP Host. We've had him three times so far.

So if you experience the VIP Experience you get a free AP pass?

I don't believe this is the case anymore. It used to be, but to my knowledge they have done away with the free Annual Pass if you do the VIP Experience. I think now they will allow you only upgrade options to Annual Passes at low prices only for VIP Experience guests at the end of your tour.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

We did our most recent VIP Tour last October and they gave us one.

It is the basic one, but it's easy to upgrade to a Premium.

Maybe a recent change???

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

I would say just get a regular ticket. Because the last time I was there, I don't remember any long lines except for Jurassic Park and Backdraft. But that was during the summer, so I'm not sure what it's going to be like at the time you'r going.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

^^^^^^^

Sure, we'd NEVER spend the money for a Front-of-the-Line Pass, but the OP was asking about the VIP Experience, which is a whole other thing.

The VIP Exp gets you a days worth of the Park plus entrance into one of the operating sound stages, your own Tram (trolley), your own Host, the opportunity to stop at select locations throughout the normal Tram route and plenty more.

Apples to oranges...

For a "once in a long time" guest, the VIP tour is the way to go.

And for us, we do it every so often just to keep up to snuff with it.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

Thanks for all the replies!! I'm going in mid-April, so the lines may be lengthy but I'm okay with that. The front of the line pass wasn't what attracted me to the VIP Experience anyway. Thanks for the input, I'll have to make some decisions with the fam.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

The VIP Experience is definately the way to go (if you can afford) and/or if you feel you won't be back for many many years, if ever.

It is a 6 hour (roughly) private tour of the theme park and studio. You get all the normal parts of the regular studio tour but with much much more. You'll get a private trolley and be able to walk around various sets and inside a soundstage or two. Usually you get to visit the prop warehouse or a production building. I had a friend go one year and they got to visit the ADR building, which is where actors come in to re-record their lines if the sound was flubbed, or like if the movie is being shown on TV and they have to cut out cuss words, and edit in something else. They were doing it for American Beauty and his group was able to meet Kevin Spacey and Annete Benning and take photos and all.

I know now they include lunch with the package at the studio kichen along with free valet parking.

If you're going in mid April you will want to hurry. I know they make you call ahead to make reservations and April is spring break time for a lot of the parks. So you'll want to make sure you can get a time on the day you plan to visit.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

I'm not sure, but I think someone mentioned free parking with the VIP Experience???? I could be wrong.

I'm not exactly sure how the current tour will be now that Project Phoneix (sp) is underway.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets

VIP Experience includes free valet parking (bring your valet parking ticket to the VIP Experience door at checkin, they'll validate it)
