![]() | Universal Studios Singapore I noticed there are some closed threads on USS and one specifically about the Battlestar Coaster. This is the omnibus thread for all topics related to USS (which along with Harry Potter will be the major theme park development of 2010). This was released yesterday: Universal Studios Singapore(R) Announces Launch of World's ONLY 'Madagascar' Theme Park Attraction From DreamWorks Animation Singapore's Resorts World(R) Sentosa will also bring to life the world's FIRST 'Far Far Away' Castle from the world of Shrek SINGAPORE, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Asia's largest integrated resort in Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa, has created not one, but TWO world's firsts in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA) within its Universal Studios Singapore theme park. Themed after DreamWorks Animation's blockbuster movie Madagascar, Madagascar: A Crate Adventure will be a mega-attraction at Universal Studios Singapore when it opens in early 2010. Widely successful across audiences of all ages, the hit DreamWorks Animation film will be brought to life with a state-of-the-art indoor boat ride featuring animated figures, digital projection, evocative sound, and special effects that create a one-of-a-kind, funny and fun family ride. Southeast Asia's first and only Universal Studios theme park will also be home to the world's first Far Far Away Castle, a landmark in the box-office hit Shrek series. King Harold's 40-metre high castle will house attractions such as Shrek 4-D, Donkey Live and Magic Potion Spin. Madagascar: A Crate Adventure and Far Far Away Castle are part of the world's biggest single collection of DreamWorks Animation theme park attractions making its debut at Universal Studios Singapore. The collection of six attractions, complemented by more than 10 DreamWorks Animation themed dining and shopping outlets, also features rides suitable for the entire family, such as the fairy tale themed junior-coaster Enchanted Airways and King Julien's Beach Party Go-Round. Mr. Tan Hee Teck, CEO of Resorts World Sentosa, which Universal Studios Singapore is part of, said: "Resorts World Sentosa has a sales network spanning 22 Asian cities. In each of these cities, Shrek and Madagascar are well-known animation films with beloved characters. We are ecstatic to have made these characters residents in Resorts World Sentosa's Universal Studios Singapore. "We are excited about our relationship with DreamWorks Animation and Universal Studios Parks & Resorts, and I am sure that many Asian visitors will be too, when they see Universal Studios Singapore bring to life two of DreamWorks Animation's most successful box-office franchises." "We are proud to announce the world-first Madagascar attraction in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation that will debut at Resorts World Sentosa's Universal Studios Singapore," said Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts. "These iconic animated characters promise to be another crown jewel in our collection of world-class rides and shows based on blockbuster movies that are loved by the entire family," he added. Universal Studios Singapore(R) is located within Singapore's massive family destination resort, Resorts World(R) Sentosa. Universal Studios Singapore will feature 24 rides and attractions, 18 of which are either original or adapted for the park. Universal Studios Singapore opens in the first quarter of 2010. ![]() | Re: Universal Studios Singapore The Interactive Map is up at the official site, describing exactly what attractions, restaurants and shops will open in early 2010 with the world's next major theme park: Map USS UPDATE: The site also features construction pics from inside the park: http://www.rwsentosa.com/photogaller...togallery.html The park is looking quite good, if a bit too squished together (Battlestar coaster on top of Egypt). Similar in layout and scope to IOA. Last edited by RandySavage; 10-20-2009 at 08:17 PM. |

![]() | Re: Universal Studios Singapore There WILL BE an E.T. ride in the park. Universal has already offically announced. From what I have heard the new E.T. ride will be the updated version of the old ride and will be bigger and better than the original. It is slated to open in 2011. And don't forget the super E-ticket transformers ride coming in 2011 which is also offically announced. This theme park is promising. |

![]() | Re: Universal Studios Singapore Here's what the map shows: HOLLYWOOD - 1 attraction Pantages Hollywood Theater: Ticket rating will vary depending on the show. A Universal monster revue will start out in this venue; I'll assign it a D-ticket. NEW YORK - 2 attractions Lights! Camera! Action!: An SFX show a la Disaster or Twister. D-Ticket. Stage 28: Prop display, but guests will also be able to watch live filming, if there happens to be any. A-ticket + special event venue. SCI-FI CITY - 2 attractions. The Transformers Ride is scheduled to go here as well. Accelerator: A teacup ride. A-ticket. Battlestar Galactica: Dueling coaster. E-ticket. ANCIENT EGYPT - 2 attractions. Revenge of the Mummy: Dark-ride slash roller coaster. Should be an E-ticket. Treasure Hunters: Kiddie car ride. It looks pretty short, so I'm giving it a B-ticket. LOST WORLD - 5 attractions. Amber Rock Climb: This has to be an upcharge attraction. Canopy Flyers: 1-rail suspended coaster, like the one at IOA. These have really bad throughput, so it gets cut from a C to a B-ticket. Dino-Soarin': Airplane ride. A-ticket. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure: Combination river raft ride with JP theme. I'm curious how this'll work. E-ticket. Waterworld: Stunt Show. Amazing how such a perennially popular show can come from such a lousy movie. D-ticket. FAR FAR AWAY - 4 attractions. Donkey LIVE: Interactive show a la Crush Live. I believe these require smaller audiences, so a C-ticket would probably be correct. Enchanted Airways: Junior Coaster. Probably a C-ticket. Magic Potion Spin: Miniature Ferris wheel. A-ticket. Shrek 4-D Adventure: Ye Olde Shreke Movie. D-Ticket. MADAGASCAR - 2 attractions. King Julien's Beach Party-go-round: Carousel. Maybe the seats will rock back and forth when Julien says "move it move it." That would be cool. Still an A-ticket though. Madagascar: A Crate Adventure: This could be anywhere from a C to an E ticket depending on just how crate it really is. I'll split the difference with a D-ticket. A-tickets: 5. B-tickets: 2. C-tickets: 2. D-tickets: 5. E-tickets: 3. 1 Upcharge Attraction. Total Number of attractions: 18. 1 additional E-ticket (Transformers) planned. I see no mention of an ET ride. If both are built, the total attraction count will be 20. |

![]() | Re: Universal Studios Singapore ^ Wouldn't all carnie-ride derivatives (Ferris wheel, etc.) count as B-tickets. I don't know if there's an official or consensus ticket scale but I'm a little more conservative in my ratings: E-ticket: Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain D-ticket: Jungle Cruise (and other aged former E-tickets), New Little Mermaid Ride, Monster's Inc: Ride & Go Seek, Alien Encounter C-ticket: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Peter Pan's Flight B-ticket: Carousel, Dumbo, Teacups A-ticket: Frontierland Shootin Arcade, Seasons of the Vine |
