I've been hearing 2012 but I've also been hearing 2011. I think they can get that ride up and running in 14 months since the structure is already provided for them. Keep in mind they build the entire JP ride in a year! Also the third Transformers movie comes out next year so I'm expecting they'll want to feed off the success of that by opening the ride. That's just what my gut tells me.

Not to mention Universal construction is WAY faster than Disney, WWOHP went up in about a year and a half.

Every Cast Member publication I've seen says 2012 which makes sense since Carsland will be opening around the same time.

I may be able to put the "only one person per row will be able to see anything" debate to rest as well as provide some new and exciting information.

Per the latest Cast Member update, there will be two seamless concave screens, each measuring 187' long and 40' high surrounding the tram. The screens will be projected on by 16 HD projectors at 60 FPS (vs 24 FPS for a feature film). Sound will be provided by a whopping 68 speakers resonating at 108 decibels. The Kong experience will last for just under three minutes.

Just looking at these numbers gets me pumped for this summer. I can't wait for Cast Member previews!

The tram guides are concerned about guests standing up during Kong, since the airbags do move the tram a bit. As for the view, the 3D looks great, but it's next to impossible to be able to catch all the action in one viewing.

    I'm sure that's their intention.

Solution is simple: move the tram so much it becomes impossible to stand up.

So... only TWO people per row will be able to see anything, then?

Just kidding... sort of. Obviously, you'll still see, hear, and feel a whole lot if you're a few people deep in the row. However, to really see more than, say, 50% of the video footage, you're gonna have to manipulate yourself into one of those end seats.

That article fails pretty hard. Last I checked, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is NOT a 3-D attraction. I don't recall The Simpsons Ride using 3-D, although the projected film is computer generated.
