These vehicles are massive! So exciting.
If Disney would seriously uses their imagineering team for more original ideas I'm sure Disney can afford to top this in many ways. But thats a big IF.

    ....where are the seatbelts?...

Sorry, but when they said "magical bench," I didn't think about the robot arm ride system that was rumored to be used with the attraction.

I think you'll still largely get one. You'll be on a bench with what looks like three other people, which, depending on your party, may just be whoever you're there with. From the look of the ride mechanism, you probably won't see the other arms at any given time, they're far enough apart and I suspect they'll be moving in different ways while running. It's a lot like the original ingenuity of the Haunted Mansion, using a ride vehicle with limited visibility that basically forces you to look straight ahead to show you what you're intended to see, much like a movie.

You'll swoop up and down and side to side in time with the projected film, AAs and set pieces, and will likely be too busy immersed in the scenery and effects to notice that you can't see the other benches swooshing around you. (All this is based on conjecture culled from what has been leaked and officially announced.)

    I don't see it.

The HM works by forcing the viewing position and field of view. How do you achieve that on a bench??

Looking again.. it's not clear if this photo is representative of the actual position of the benches to each other.. or just all the machines sitting near each other for storage, etc.

People complain about Back to the Future and how visible the other cars can be depending on your position... Soarin' as well to a lesser extent. Here, unless it's some notion of you're 'entire classroom' is taking on the trip.. it would seem real odd.

I'm hoping this photo is just the equipment sitting near each other and isn't representative of how they are to be used in the attraction itself.

It is. this photo, to the best of anyone's knowledge, was taken from the vehicle maintenance warehouse built behind Dragon's Challenge/Dueling Dragons. The vehicles will more likely on the actual ride be traveling single file on a track, the arms moving in time to the ride specs like a giant mechanical octopus.

Again, the bench has a high back, completely enclosing the upper body of the rider, the bottom is open from the looks of it and the feet will dangle. In the picture the closest yellow rider cabinet you see is positioned so that if there were riders in it, they would effectively be on their backs and staring at the warehouse ceiling. It will force the viewer's perspective because they are basically restrained and forced to look forward, looking sidewise will just show either your ride mate(s) or the rider cabinet wall, looking down will show your legs dangling, looking up will show just the enclosed cabinet above your head, and looking backwards is impossible. Think of the benches more like high-backed, enclosed-on-top monk or nun benches, like those seen in gothic European churches:

I'd suspect there should be seatbelts as the "magic bench" is supposed to invert.
Don't think of a gun as a weapon.
Think of it as a third arm that magically
    shoots bullets!

While the ride system has that ability, it is highly unlikely to do so in this case.

And some of you are talking like this is a simulator. It's a dark ride. The vehicles are pictured in storage.

That picture was taken backstage in a holding area for all the benches. It wont be that clustered. This is the way its going to be set up for the actual ride.

I can imagine the loading times would be awful (hence the elaborate queue).

So it's going to be like the old Imagination set up where the train would sit in a room and then move to the next room once that scene is done?

No, it appears the robots are on their own buggies that move through the attraction.

And BTW.. at imagination the cars didn't stop... the scene moved with the cars It was a big turntable where you see Dreamfinder on the dreamcatcher.

I was reffering to the finale room, but at least I know how the starting room did things now.
