While Disaster isn't the 'E-Ticket' it used to be, it is one of the few things left in the park, that explain the magic of movie making.

I think Universal still needs an attraction that demonstrates that.

It looks like, officially, Jaws is safe for now. From Universal Orlando's twitter:

We appreciate everyone's support for JAWS. We like it too & our only plan is to keep it open for our guests
Nothing about E.T. there however. I'd bet money its the next ride to go. Its already been removed from Hollywood and Osaka.
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

I keep on meaning to poke around about ET. I was talking about Jaws the other day to a friend, and found out that the new queue less, queue testing for Jaws was a colosal failure... for THAT attraction. I would keep my eyes open to for some more queue less queue tests in the near future.

I always get nervous about the closure of Jaws. I truly love the ride.

I personally do not think E.T. is going anywhere, and I will give my PERSONAL reasons. Both in Hollywood and in Osaka land is more of an issue than at Orlando. UO still have a few expansion pads left. That being said, in conversations I have had, Jimmy Nutron, T2 3-D and Shrek all seem to have some targets on them.

Jaws and E.T. are both classics. Neutron and Twister are two attractions that need to go. And of course they need to replace Fear Factor as well.

ET needs to stay but it needs some major sprucing because outside of the queu it is no longer impressive. If they could put in real animatronic cops (instead of manicans) and do something different with the ending it could be great.
