With a whole bunch of releases revealed for this year over on blu-ray.com, it makes me wonder, is Disney fast-tracking animated movie Blu-Ray releases? (canon and straight-to-video sequels)
To recap from what I posted earlier today, that gives us for 2012:
Pocahontas and Pocahontas II
The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under
The Aristocats
Lady and the Tramp
Cinderella
In addition, we are also getting:
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
The Lion King 1.5
The Tigger Movie
Rumoured:
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
101 Dalmations (overseas release)
It seems like there's more being released than usual this year. A theatrical release won't get a home video release this year because Wreck-It Ralph doesn't have it's theatrical release until November, so we'll see that one in spring 2013. I just hope they aren't fast-tracking releases because of streaming taking over (i.e. Disney Studio All Access). If Disney Studio All Access will be taking over, and it's pretty much the end of physical media, what's going to happen to the Disney Vault concept? Will consumers have access to any Disney Animated Classics whenever they want?
