    Re: Disney blu ray

These are coming to Blu-Ray this summer:
    The Aristocats
    The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under
(2-Movie set, like Fox and the Hound)
    Pocahontas/Pocahontas II (2-Movie set)
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure

    Fall 2012 Diamond Edition release:
    Cinderella

    Spring 2013 Diamond Edition release:
    Aladdin

And just today, I read these also may be coming out this summer (maybe a July release):
    Treasure Planet
    Home on the Range

As one member over at DVDizzy (UltimateDisney) put it:
Disney Home Entertainment is pushing hard to get all of the Animated Classics out on Blu-ray within a few years. I don't know this part for sure, but the speculation I have gathered is that their may be concerns that within the middle of the decade, physical media may be on it's way out. So, just in case, they want to get at least the Animated Classics on Blu-ray while they can.
6 DACs and 3 sequels is not a bad line-up for the rest of the year.

I mean we might not see Home on the Range...but the good ones or "classics" will one day be on Blueray and any that go into the theaters again in 3D will be coming out on 3D Blueray too

Hopefully, this is not everything. Keep in mind we still have titles coming from the "Generations Collection" and the Disney Movie Club Exclusives." Plus, we might actually see animated tv shows get released again. 2012 truly is the "Year of the Disney release."

Very good news. Treasure Planet may not be a beloved classic, but it should look wonderful on blu-ray. Same goes for Atlantis & Brother Bear.

    Re: Disney blu ray

Good news for sure, as I am one who still believes in physical media. Sorry, but having the artwork in my hands, like with vinyl LPs, is half the fun. Just having a blurb of data saved on a DVR is not quite as enthralling.

I have to laugh at whatever money it will cost to convert some of the obscure titles to bluray - Home on the Range? Surely they don't expect to garner a profit from that one, do they? How about Chicken Little? LMAO

What I would like to know is if they will convert their cartoon shorts to Blu-Ray, a la the Walt Disney Treasures?
    My top favorite Disneyland attractions:

    1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    2. Pirates of the Caribbean
    3. Splash Mountain
    4. Mad Tea Party
    5. Peter Pan's Flight
    6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

I'm in the same boat. I prefer the physical media. It will be sad when it goes the way of the Dodo.

Home on the Range was likely animated on computers, so the cost should be minimal. Any Disney movie will have a fan base, so I'm sure it will be profitable. Chicken Little was absolutely animated on computer, and is already on blu-ray.
