Can't wait to see it....it looks like an interesting story line and I like how they made the first part black and white until he entered Oz where it turns bright colors.

Flying monkeys creep me out. Always have. The original Wizard of Oz gave me nightmares as a kid. I can pass on this movie (easily).

I'd like to be in Texas for the Round-up in the Spring."

I want to see this Film, but I need to see it in 2D please (some films do not require a 3D theatrical release to enjoy them) - Sam Raimi is a fine director & I am pleased by what I've seen in the trailers ....

see you @ Regal Cinemas -

I'm wondering, when this comes out in March... if Disney's 1985 Oz movie Return to Oz will get a Blu-Ray release. Any word? It's a movie I don't even have on DVD yet.

Well, 1985's RETURN TO OZ came out on DVD back in 2004 on Walt Disney Home Entertainment (it wasn't a bad transfer, but it certainly deserved more bonus features & a better digital transfer) @ least it was a widescreen aspect ration 1:85:1 vs. a full screen & - yes - a Bluray release (with actual bonus content) would be nice ....

this film was kind of steampunk before that term was ever used -

re: Oz - The Great and Powerful (2013) Chat and Reviews (Merged)

I've seen several previews for this one, but nothing is really making me say 'I have to see this.'

I think what puts me off is that it can't just be a guy accidentally blown to Oz...there has to be a prophecy that says a stranger from a strange land will be able to overthrow a great evil currently plaguing the land.

Disney did that in 2010 with 'Alice in Wonderland,' and I got tired of the 'you're the chosen one/no I'm not/yes you are/no I'm not/you are and we shall continue to say so whether you like it or not/fine, I'll be the chosen one/see? told you you were the chosen one.'

I guess I always preferred the information regarding 'the Wizard' to simply be enigmatic. Besides, one has to wonder about the ramifications to film logic when one thinks of the musical version. For example: does this mean every other tornado is a portal to Oz? Or was it one of those one-in-a-jillion chances?

re: Oz - The Great and Powerful (2013) Chat and Reviews (Merged)

I've been waiting for more info on this movie, to decide whether or not it's worth seeing in a movie theater, and the most recent release of promo's has done it's job, for me.

I am now looking forward to this Oz - Prequal, I hope the visuals are as stunning as the poster artwork would have us believe, if so, it might even be worthy to see in 3D.

Just a note, I did see Alice, last year, but was not impressed, and didn't care for the movie at all. That is what has kept me from getting on the Oz bandwagon, too soon. I'm hoping that this movie bring the same kind of "fandamonium" that Wicked brought to Oz. However, I am trying to keep my hopes from running too high, just in case the movie doesn't reach that depth.

. . . and does anyone else think this poster was inspired by some of the other Disney painting that were done by Thomas Kinkade?

A new trailer has been released by Disney for Oz the Great and Powerful Oz The Great and Powerful - The Battle for Oz Begins March 8 - YouTube

EDIT: Here is another featurette for the movie...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE1FZ8c5BzI

What is even more interesting to me is that they actually built the sets for this film instead of relying heavily on CGI unlike Alice in Wonderland. It's my opinon, even though I haven't seent he movie yet, that that very thing will help make this movie look even more realistic. Im really looking foward to see this movie! It looks like it could be great! (plus Mila Kunis is in it.)

It looks interesting, but the director of the Spider-Man trilogy and the producer of Alice in Wonderland? No thanks. I will stay away. IF it gets really positive reviews I may check it out. But I hated Alice in Wonderland and the Spider-Man trilogy. Currently no plans to see it.
