Disney's 'Wreck-It Ralph' & 'Brave' lead 40th Annual Annie Award nominees
Disney's 'Wreck-It Ralph' and Pixar's 13th feature film, 'Brave' both received ten nominations each for this year's 40th Annual Annie Awards, recognizing the best animation of the year.
Both films' nominations included Best Animated Feature, Character Animation in an Feature production, Music in an Animated Feature and Voice Acting in an Animated Feature. 'Wreck-It Ralph's Rich Moore is nominated for Directing in an Animated Feature and WDAS' Visual Development Artists Bill Schwab, Lorelay Bove, Cory Loftis and Minkyu Lee for Best Character Design in an Animated Feature Production.
Walt Disney Animation Studios' groundbreaking 'Paperman ' from Director John Kahrs was nominated in the Best Animated Short Subject category.
Industrial Light + Magic was recognized for 'The Avengers' with twonominations including Animated Effects in a Live Action Production.
Disney's 'Frankenweenie' was honored with five nominations including Best Animated Feature. 'Frankenweenie' was named today as Best Animated Feature by the New York City Film Critics.
Disney Television Animation garnered nominations for 'Disney Tron: Uprising' , 'Doc McStuffins', 'Jake and the Neverland Pirates', Kick Buttowski', 'Gravity Falls', 'Randy Cunningham Ninth Grade Ninja and it's latest series, 'Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess'.
The 40th Annual Annie Awards will be held February 2, 2013 at UCLA's Royce Hall.

The 40th Annual Annie Awards last night proved to be a big one for Disney with twelve wins.
'Wreck-It Ralph' from Walt Disney Animation Studios smashed it's way to five awards including Best Animated Feature, Phil Johnston and Jennifer Lee for Writing in an Animated Feature andDirecting in an Animated Feature for Rich Moore. It also won Music in an Animated Feature Production and Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production for Alan Tudyk as "King Candy".
Disney Pixar's 'Brave' was honored with Editing and Production Design awards.
The groundbreaking new short from Director John Kahrs, 'Paperman' was voted Best Animated Short Subject.
'The Avengers' won for Animated Effects in an Live Action Production.
Artist Robert Valley's work in 'Disney Tron: Uprising: The Renegade Part One' won Character Design in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production. And Alberto Mielgo won for Production Design in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production for 'Disney Tron: Uprising: The Stranger' both from Disney TV Animation.
Legendary Disney Animator Mark Henn was one of three artists honored with the Winsor McCay Award.
