At the theater, in between NHL playoff games...

Hanna - It was like they took the Hit Girl storyline from Kick-A** and turned it into it's own movie. Interesting soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers.

GROWN UPS -- terrible. unfunny. made me depressed after watching it because it just wasn't good. I get the story it was trying to tell but it was basically a bunch of old comedians just wanting to hang out in a lake house and have fun while making a movie. There wasn't much of a movie but you could tell they were having a good time because it was all phoned-in.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1

Finally got it on Blue-Ray and watched it a few days ago. It was alright, but it was basically a lot of running around (even though the book was like that). I have a bone to pick with it: they cut out some information that is kind of useful in the original book:

    Harry's 17th Birthday was cut
    (that was kind of important)

I wish they would have left the scene where Dudley wishes Harry goodbye to him to show his development.

Other than that, so-so. I hope the second part when released in July is better.

I saw Hanna today. Terrific film all around. The long tracking shot with Bana when he fights in the subway is amazing. Saorise Ronan is incredible. I was thinking "Man, I wish this girl was in one of those Scream movies. 5 seconds after Ghostface showed up he would be lying on the ground with his knife in his face."

    The Tourist

Kinda sucky ... had it figured out in the first 10 minutes. Angelina Jolie continues to not do a damn thing for me in the acting/looks department.

FAST FIVE -- Pretty much what you'd expect. It's decently entertaining but really dumb. hahaha. Don't think too much about it after.

Saw Rio at the theatre, liked it a lot, even in 2D. Half-way through Inception, will resume after the Angel game is over.

There should be a sticky thread called "This Day in Disney History." The company has a long history and this would be a good way to acknowledge it. Walt was born 112 years ago; that's quite a chunk of American history and culture.

    Children of a Lesser God

I watched this in my sign language class. I got really moved by it especially in the final scene, and William Hurt did really well in character.

THOR -- I saw it many months ago before effects were complete and I liked it even then. The movie hasn't changed much so that means it's still a good, entertaining, superhero flick.

This movie was awesome (but I'm pretty sure the graphic novel was based on is better). I really enjoyed John Malkovich as a paranoid guy who always thinks someone is after him. And Helen Mirren was awesome and at her age really knows how to Kick ***!!

Hil-LAR-ious movie!! Loved it! I don't know why the marketing of it while it was in theatres didn't pull me in, but I saw it for the first time on Blu and was blown away.

THOR - Saw this last night. A really, really good movie but my comic book geek friends and I could only give it a solid B. There's nothing wrong with the film - it's well cast, well directed, the GCI worlds of Asgard and that ice planet are astounding, it's fun and funny - but by the end of it, there just seemed to be something missing from it for a super hero/tent pole film. Something or some moment that blew us away. It's weird, because it's not a bad movie, but at the end, we all felt the same way.
