Watched the classic The Grapes of Wrath on TCM.

Amazing to watch Henry Fonda, as well as the performance of Jane Darwell as Ma.
Some heartbreaking moments that can be applied to events happening today.

I picked up the book at a book sale last month. Yes, there are things in there that can relate to the events of today.

I saw that on tv last night. Thought momentarily about watching it. Decided to pass. I hated the book, figured...why watch the movie?

BTW...I still don't get The Big Lebowski.

There's nothing to get. That's the whole point of the movie. Now $!@# it dude, let's go bowling.

    Last night I watched
The Two Towers - again, like I watched Fellowship the other day, it was the first time watching it since the theatrical release. I think I liked it better this time around as I could concentrate on it more, and... there wasn't a 1 year gap between watching the previous movie in the series so the events from Fellowship were still fresh in my mind.

    Aliens in the Attic

It was cute for what it was. And it was just long enough not to get annoying. Worth the rental at least.

The Blind Side. Very good movie.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

The film is slightly different than the book. The first half of the film follows the book fairly accurately but the ending has a more up beat ending compared to the book. John Ford didn't want to end it on a downer and gave it a more hopeful outlook. If anything, the film can be watched just for the performances of the actors and the stunning way John Ford captures the feeling of the book with his camera.

And regarding The Big Lebowski....it's all about the dude.

Are you watching the extended version or the regular version?

I'm watching the regular theatrical version. I don't know if I could sit thru three 4-hour long movies. lol

    Last night I watched:
Terminator Salvation: Director's Cut - other than the topless scene, not sure what else was added from the theatrical version. Pretty good movie. I hope the next one has the T-1000.

yes, I was impressed by how closely the beginning follows the book. It started drifting at the district attorney convention. I started noticing little differences. Not big things...but, conversations, and the ape. Little things. I did notice the ending was different. But, I liked the quote..
"too weird to live, too rare to die." When he was talking about Dr Gonzo.

The actors did a terrific job. Johnny really blew me away. I mean, he played it perfectly. I can see why HST said noone else could do it but him.

    The Taking of Pelham 123

I thought it was a pretty good action movie. I don't generally like John Travolta as a villain (always too much yelling) but he wasn't bad in this one.

Citizen Kane- Saw it again and it was wonderful entertaining.

Star Trek 2009- I recently bought Star Trek and thought this one was way better then the original movies. Two Spocks in the Universe weird.

    Fantastic Mr. Fox
    4 1/4 Stars
Awesome movie, brilliant characters, story and humor.
Though the animation scared my sister.
