Just saw Amazing Spiderman and loved it. I thought it was a much better take n the story than the last series, however I wish they wouldn't have altered the costume.

I also liked the fact that they didn't start off right away by making the Green Goblin the villain.

That is a great movie, I agree. And one that I could watch over and over again.

The Black Hole - The recent passing of Ernest Borgnine inspired to me to pull out this from my library. I watched him in Poseidon Adventure recently and he was great in that. I first saw it as a kid when it was first released. Hadn't seen it in quite a while, and it hasn't aged well at all. I know Disney and TRON: Legacy's director were developing a reboot; they couldn't make it any worse than the original. :/

Midnight Cowboy. Some of my favorite films are from the late 60ís early 70ís so when I have a chance I try to see new stuff from that time. Itís ironic how this film which was rated X at the time could be about such an endearingly naÔve character. I enjoyed the portrayal of the friendship and the performances a lot.

The Descendants. Every once in a while a movie really stays with me, Iíve seen 2 recently and this was one of them. George Clooney manages to pick really good movies to be in, and he and all the actors are really good in it, and the characters very honest yet managing to keep their integrity despite the craziness around them. Really liked this one. I love Alexander Payne, About Schmidt is one of my favorite movies ever.

Marathon Man. When I was a kid I probably saw the last hour of this at least 3 or 4 times on TV and was glued to the set every time, so I finally saw the whole thing. Good intense thriller.

Prometheus. This was the other film that really stayed with me. Horrific, disturbing, and thought provoking. I kept reading how you should forget the idea of it being an Alien prequel, but on the other hand I really felt it helped to have seen those films because there are plenty of subtle references and foreshadowing to certain concepts of those films. I have to say though, one of the reasons I enjoyed it was that it brought up plot questions whose answers were only barely hinted at, I like that ambiguity, the next day I realized Damon Lindelof was one of the main writers so I guess that make sense being that he was one of the main showrunners from Lost. The difference between the unanswered questions of Lost vs. Prometheus however is that in Prometheus at least some of the ambiguity was used to give weight to the theme of faith, whereas even with the faith themes of Lost much of the unanswered stuff seemed to have no purpose for it being unanswered (still, I loved Lost, for me one of the greatest TV shows ever).

Ted. My wife and I have seen a lot of Family Guy and I kept wondering if it was going to be just like it. It was, so maybe I was a tad disappointed, but still really funny and the actors all really sold the idea well.

Batman Begins - Watched my Blu-ray of it Tuesday night. Been so long since I last saw it, I got to genuinely re-enjoy the humor of Alfred and Lucius' one-liners anew once again!

The Dark Knight - Wednesday evening it was time for this Blu-ray. Heath Ledger took some amazing material he was given and brought it to life in an uncompromising fashion. The interrogation scene is a masterpiece of his, Bale's and the screenwriter's work.

The Dark Knight Rises - Still processing this amazingly great film. I made the mistake of expecting this film's script to rise even higher in sophistication from the previous film, but it didn't imo. Instead, while it plays to comic book fans in a bigger way than we could've hoped for, it takes that comic book lore and embeds it in a world full of greys, like real life. And Nolan has our heroes confront the greys in their very human decisions and aspirations at the same time that they expect to live in a world where good always triumphs over evil. Obviously this is not The Avengers kind of story, but if you enjoyed the first two Nolan installments, you'll enjoy this one. And it is definitely a conclusion, and a good one. In fact, from now on, I will always consider the three films one expanded film, they were done so right. I wish I could talk more spoilery, but I just can't offer that up right now. I'm afraid too many of you would peek and I don't want to be responsible for that. I prefer folks to enjoy the surprises and easter eggs as it unfolds. I have tickets to see it again this Sunday, in IMAX. Looking forward to it!!

    The Dark Knight Rises

Incredible. So, so awesome! I think I liked The Dark Knight Better but I can't say for sure yet. I HAVE seen TDK over 50 times or so, so I need to watch TDKR more. But it was definitely an outstanding film. I too will no spoil anything, but by the end, my friends and I were ALL flipping out! It was by far one of the most satisfying movie endings I've ever seen. I'm seeing it again next weekend, waiting for the crowds to ease up a bit.

It is the last night of my Catalina vacation and I just saw Batman at the Casino. Not only did I see it in an amazing theater, but I loved this movie. The storyline was excellent. It combined Knightfall and No Man's Land into a couple of hours of great movie fun.

The only complaint that I have is that it didn't stay true to the source material as far as Bane's origin.

While, as others have said on here, it does wrap things up nicely, it also leaves things opened a bit should someone take up the series after Nolan.

Awww, the Casino is a fun place to see a movie! And Catalina is a nice chill place.

DARK KNIGHT RISES -- Wow, the DC Logo is atrocious. But the film is great! I didn't love it the way Dark Knight hit me but it was still riveting to the very end. I must see it again in IMAX.

Superman: The Movie (Original Theatrical Release) - After all this Dark Knight stuff, I decided to go back to the one that taught Hollywood it's okay to treat a comic book superhero seriously. This is the first time I watched this version on Blu-ray. The extended cut had been the only version available on Blu before this. Liked the extended cut, but this original cut "felt" better to watch. Shorter and to the point. Played it over to listen to the commentary track by Ilya Salkind and Pierre Spengler, interesting to listen to.

How the West Was Won - Been wanting to find the time to see this again after seeing the It's a Mad x4 World screening a few weeks ago. I enjoyed it a lot more this time, and I realized I was probably more enamored with the Blu-ray SmileBox simulation the first time I watched it than actually relaxing and enjoying the story unfold.

Sideways. Saw The Descendants a few weeks ago and loved it so decided I needed to check this out too. Alexander Payne is one of the most consistent directors right now. I've loved every movie he's made (haven't seen Citizen Ruth yet though). I really like this one too, similar in tone to About Schmidt although I think Schmidt the character was more likeable than the Sideways duo.

Brave. Gorgeous to look at, almost as much as Ratatouille was. I get why some people got thrown off by the second half of the movie, for me it wasn't quite out of left field, but maybe shallow left. In addition, the execution of the second half was a little more predictable, so the transformation of the relationship was maybe moderately effective as opposed to highly. However, for some reason being able to figure out exactly how it was going to end did not seem to ruin the emotional payoff of the climatic scenes and ended up being very powerful. As a side note, La Luna was a really cute.

Still one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. I just wish they would have let Donner finish his complete vision.
