Re: The "What Movie Did You Just See?" thread RELOADED

Just got home from seeing Avatar. We saw it in 3d. We thought it was awesome. I think you would have to be a Marine like us to understand some of the jokes the main character would say. You should have heard us in the theater.

    Good times.

Just watched "A Knight's Tale" again. First saw it in the theater with my jousting group, which was a group of professional jousters. (Yup, this is really like modern-day jousting). One of our guy's was the Jousting Master on the shoot.

Takes me back to being in the list.

I just re watched Stand By Me.

Real great flick and it still holds up. It's funny on how much talent is in that movie.

The Dreamer of Oz - A made-for-TV movie about L. Frank Baum and his wife that's on the bonus disc for The Wizard of Oz Blu-ray I have. Never heard of it before, and it stars John Ritter and Annette O'Toole. It has some cheezy and contrived moments, but overall it was an entertaining love story that blended the creative of Baum's classic book. But the little girl who inspires the character of Dorothy for Baum is a scene-stealer in all her scenes. She's nothing like Judy Garland, just very cute, happy, and charming.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - I got the remake on Blu-ray for Christmas. When I first watched it in theatres, I thought it was an alright movie. I've since seen the original 1951 film and that blew me away. Seeing this again and now able to compare the two, it's easy to see that the empathy engendered by the 1951 Klatuu totally works to that film's advantage.

Men in Black - Another Blu-ray I got from my family for Christmas, and I'm really surprise (tho' I dunno why) how great this looks on Blu-ray.

    Terminator Salvation (Blu Ray)

As a stand-alone movie it probably wouldn't be that great, but it does a REALLY good job of continuing the Terminator saga and reveals a LOT of things that you see from all the way back in the first movie. Such as ... How John Connor get's the scars on his face and how he and Kyle Reese meet.

Lots of really good action and a decent story as well.

    Although the:

    Spoiler
Fake looking "Ahnold" Terminator left a bit to be desired. Thought they could have done a better job with that.

If it's true that the next Terminator Movie will indeed be the last, I'd LOVE to see James Cameron involved somehow.

    Sherlock Holmes was great!!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Sherlock Holmes- I thought it was good but not great. Robert Downey Jr. plays his character very well and is very charismatic on screen. ~swoon~ Downey and Law also have good chemistry together.

The Hangover-I fell asleep the first half hour into the movie. I really wanted to like this movie too but it just didn't do anything for me.

Gina...did we see these on the same days??? lol I'm with you... Sherlock was fun, mostly because of the acting of the two leads, the rest of the movie (story, direction, etc.) not so much.

Hangover.. I enjoyed the premise, I thought there were some funny moments, but overall, I don't see what the hype was about. It didn't make me laugh out loud hardly at all. Mike Tyson was the best part, but it wasn't all that.
