    At the theater last night:

Crazy Heart - Very good movie. Can see why Jeff Bridges got the Oscar for this one. In a few scenes he was channelling The Dude.

On DVD a few nights ago:

Saving Private Ryan - intense. Only the 2nd time I've seen it. I still can't believe this one lost the best picture Oscar to Shakespeare in Love.

Second on that one. There were points where the grownups were laughing more than the kids were. It was kind of cool to watch it from the point of view of remembering jr. high school and being a parent to kids of the same age. Thumbs up for me!

And I just watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, finally! Loved it. It was very sweet and really reminded me of a backwards Forrest Gump.

same. I think timing is everything though. Had the Thin Red Line be released a year later, I think that Saving Private Ryan would have cleaned house. Having two war movies that were completely different split the vote... allowing Shakespear to take the lead.

Anybody picking up the LOTR Trilogy on Blu Ray today? I'm waiting for the extended editions to be on Blu before buying them but I'm renting them from Netflix. Should have Fellowship today. Looking forward to seeing it in HI-DEF.

I'm not a huge FG fan either. He's so boring, he doesn't DO anything. Stuff just happens to him and he's incredibly lucky. The end.

Whaaaa. I actually LOVE Forrest Gump! hahaha. I didn't like that Benjamin Button was so similar.

I liked Forrest as well, didn't care for Benjamin Button.

Although, everytime I watch 24 this season I keep calling the head of CTU "Bubba".

Oh, how funny! I thought Benjamin Button had a better story.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Blu Ray)

I'm gonna admit, when we first started watching the movie, I couldn't really tell the difference, and my wife even asked me about 1/3 through "Can you see the difference". I really couldn't.

Until we put in our DVD copy and BOY could we see the difference. The amount of color/detail in the movies is striking. I don't know if it's just because we are getting used to Blu Ray that we can't see the difference as clear as we could when we first got it. But it's certainly there and it looks great. We just rented from Netflix, so I'm not sure if there is a 2nd disc when you buy it for bonus features. But the bonus features on the main disc consist of trailers only.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Excellent film, subtitles and all. If you enjoyed the book, see this version before Hollywood mangles it. The actress playing Lisbeth Salander was incredible.

Warning: The rape scene, while mercifully brief, was hard to stomach.

This Movie Is Not Yet Rated

A great look at the MPAA and their activities for rating movies. Any movie fan would enjoy this.

The Buddy Holly Story- This is such a good movie with great music. Gary Busey was at his finest.

How to Train Your Dragon- I saw this last night, and I got to admit, that while it was funny, it had A LOT of familiar storylines, but they did a good job of putting an interesting twist with Hiccup and proving he could show that Dragons don't have to be thought of as evil.

THIS IS IT - we really lost one of the greatest performers of our time. Truly. Watching this footage, there's no way that Michael Jackson is as bad as the media portrayed him to be.
