I watched Nine on Tuesday night, the one with Fergie, Penelope Cruz, etc. I liked the music, I liked the dancing sequences but as for the movie itself? Storyline and all? Eh...

Iron Man 2 IMAX - I went in thinking the general consensus among critics was that it wasn't as good as the first. But at the midnight show last night I thought it was about as good as the first. Lots of humor, good action, good story. In fact, there was much more in the story than I expected and liked. And Scarlett Johansson - va va voom! Wasn't expecting her to look that good either! Perhaps the only bummer of the evening was no Super 8 teaser. But the Toy Story 3 trailer looks awesome on the IMAX screen - doesn't even need 3D imo but that's a done deal anyway. And for those who aren't aware, there's a short scene after the credits.

IRON MAN 2 - Keeping it short, It's decent, acceptable, entertaining. It just lacks Iron Man. Keep through the credits to see a tease of Disney's next super hero movie.

    Iron Man 2

I really liked it, not sure if it was as good as the first, but had tons of action. The "Disney" references were classic. And Scarlett Johanssen ... Giggedy, Giggedy, Giggedy.

Make sure you stay through the credits. When will people learn that if they don't turn on the lights that means there is more to the movie.

Iron Man 2: It was AWESOME!!! Was going to see it at midnight but had to work. So I was going to see it Sunday night, but I just couldn't wait. I'm such a geek when it comes to these types of movies. I saw it in IMAX and the sound was just amazing. Thought the action was great. In my opinion, better then the 1st one but not by much. I wasn't surprised though by the after credit scene, but was still excited for it. I had that spoiled for me last week so I already knew what it was

Really? I saw no refrences at all. In fact the contract for this movie was signed WAY before they acquired Marvel, so any refrences, if any, weren't done on purpose

I believe they were done on purpose, but not because of new ownership. It was just a tip of the hat to a real-life persona.

Nah, I doubt it. But who knows. But seriously, what were they? Someone point it out to me

I'm gonna guess you're not very old are ya?

Tony Stark's dad is basically a Walt Disney-esque caricature. From the suit and mustache to the expo to the 50s artwork hanging on the walls.... all the way to the catchy song written by Richard Sherman.

There is no doubt about who they were referencing. But it's not because of Disney owning Marvel Studios.

    If your thinking I'm over 30, no. I'm 21.

And I knew about Richard Sherman doing the song, I just didn't put 2 and 2 together with Howard Stark and Walt

    THIS.

Just watch some of the old footage of Walt talking about the "City of Tomorrow".

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxC_a7qnGi8]YouTube - Walt Disney's Original Plan for EPCOT - Part 2[/ame]

(fast forward to about 4 minutes into the video)

And age is no excuse, my 12 y/o son got the reference.

We went to the midnight showing of IM2 also (well, it was scheduled for midnight but the theater had a problem getting the code from IMAX to unlock the digital copy...so it was a 1am showing instead!) I thought it was good, but I liked the first one better. I did find my urge to punch Gwyneth Paltrow to be slightly less than it was the first time and for some reason Jon Favreau in front of the camera always amuses me.

The Walt thing was interesting. At first I thought it was just me, reading something into it because of my DisneyGeekiness. Then I thought "No, they really used Walt as a pattern for this guy and his presentation and ideas" Even my husband saw it right away and he doesn't know Disney very well.

Today we're off to see Pollyanna. I might die of a saccharin overload

PERRI -- An early project that Roy E. Disney worked on, this True Life Fantasy movie was from the author of Bambi about a squirrel living in the forest over a span of the year. This was fiction, but shot with live action animals to interesting results. Some of the footage is really amazing and I enjoyed watching it.

LORENZO -- This animated short directed by Mike Gabriel (Pocahontas) was intended to be in the third Fantasia film titled "Fantasia World" along with DESTINO and LITTLE MATCH GIRL. It's a shame that the project never caught on because I really enjoyed this. It was fun, colorful, and really entertaining.

FANTASIA/2000 -- It's been awhile since I've seen it but I know it very well. It was great to see it again on the big screen with great sound. The Donald Duck sequence was never "emotional" to me but maybe I'm older now because it did tug on my strings this time.

THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE -- Continuing on my viewing of the Disney animated films from the 80s in chronological order, and fresh off the heals of Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron, this was an absolute delight. Great art, fun story and a fantastic criminal mind! Ratigan is so fun. I would love to see these characters roaming the parks.
