As a Rush fan I absolutely LOVED it. I tried to look at it from a non-fan perspective and think about a non-fan watching it and I think they would enjoy it too. It's THAT well done. Imagine a rock group who didn't follow any of the rock and roll cliche's. No radio airplay, no wild hotel parties yet has been together for 40 years and has more gold records than anybody not the Beatles or Led Zeppelin. Might sound like a boring story, but it's absolutely not.
Todd and I saw this also. Todd loved it and me, well...I fell asleep, I'm a non fan. Maybe I was just tired. I thought the first hour was ok. Todd DVR'd it so I'll try watching it again.

I was also on a Marilyn Monroe movie kick

Saw Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire. Love these movies. I'll probably see Niagara and The Seven year itch tonight.

    Velvet Goldmine

Caught it on cable last night. Seen it many times before (I have it on DVD). Plot is a bit thin, but the music more than makes up for it. It's basically a loosely-based David Bowie rip-off biopic with certain liberties taken of course. But you can totally see the main character was based on Bowie.... and another character was totally based on Iggy Pop.

Just saw Toy Story 3. Pretty incredible movie... I don't think I've had that much sense of impending doom and peril in an animated film EVER. Bravo for Pixar putting in some really dark and heavy moments.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Watched Ratatouille for the first time since it was in theaters last night. It's still really cute and I like it a lot but I don't know why it didn't seem to capture me as much this time... *shrug*

    From Paris With Love

I had it figured out in the first few minutes of the movie. It wasn't really hard to figure out to be honest. Still, a good mindless action movie and a pretty cool car chase.

She's Out of my League- I bought it on DVD, and while it is still a good movie, it is not as funny as it was the first time.

    Alice in Wonderland

Got it tonight off in-demand/pay per view. I liked it better than I was expecting due to the mixed reviews. The movie went by a lot faster than I was expecting too. Tim Burton's movies are usually total eye candy for me anyway.

Just say Toy Story 3 and OMGOMGOMG! I really loved this. I think this is my favorite of the 3. It had a real good villain, great story, great pacing and excellent humor. It also came with the sadness. I cried at the end. Very nearly wept. As a guy who still has a lot of his old toys and is a collector of 70's and 80's toys, it touched me on a deep level. I highly recommend this.

THE BLIND SIDE -- I think I fell in love with Sandra Bullock all over again (like it did in SPEED). Good movie.

    On DVD as a rental:

Pirate Radio - Great movie! If you like Love Actuvally, which was also done by Richard Curtis, you'll love this one. If you watch the DVD, make sure you watch all the deleted scenes - there's some hilarious ones in there.

    At the theatre:

The Karate Kid - We went to the theatre wanting to catch Shrek 4, but for some reason the times were all off, so having gotten to the theatre late and having missed about 20 minutes of Shrek, we went to see Karate Kid instead. This is one that initially didn't get my attention at all when they first announced a remake, but, I was very pleasantly surprised - good movie! The general Karate Kid story line is there with the reimagined part where it takes place in Beijing. All the kid actors did a good job.

Shrek Forever After - after seeing the Karate Kid, the next day we caught Shrek finally and were lucky to see it as it was the last day it was playing. A definite improvement over the third movie. Also noticable was how the quality of the animation has evolved since the first movie. I got a kick out of the "do the roar" kid and the ogre with the chimichanga cart. I really enjoyed it, fun movie.

    From my own DVD collection:

Hot Tub Time Machine - This movie cracks me up. Decided to pick it up on DVD. "Dude's rockin' a cassette player!" LOL

Hoping to finally catch Toy Story 3 this weekend at some point.
