Angels in the Outfield Not the Disney remake, but the original 1951 production. VERY good film in the classic sort of way. Absolutely fell in love with it. (And I'm NOT a baseball film fan normally). Highly recommend this to everyone. Warning: It WILL grab your heart!

Saw a bunch over the last few weeks:

At the theater a few weeks ago:
Takers - not a bad heist film. Some good action sequences.

    On DVD as rentals:
Kick-A$$ - it's like watching American Pie, then it crosses over to Kill Bill. Hit Girl was great. "Oh child..."

After-life - interesting movie with Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci.

Zombieland - funny movie if you like dark humour. The scenes with Bill Murray were great! Be sure to watch the scene at the end of the credits, also with Bill. "Thank god for rednecks!"

Harry Brown - with Michael Caine. If you like The Professional or Falling Down or The Brave One, or even Batman Begins. You'll like this one. Caine goes vigilante and takes out drug dealing gang members in the UK. It's like Alfred going Batman but without the suit and he actually kills people.

    From my own library:
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - 2nd time watching it. I really don't get the flack this movie is getting. It's a fun popcorn flick. I actually enjoyed this one more than this summer's Robin Hood. It's what we've come to expect from the collaboration between Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer. I'll admit, when I first saw the trailer, I wasn't sold on it. Then saw the movie in the theater and really enjoyed it.

Over the last few days I've watched Star Wars Phantom Menace and then Pocahontas last night.

It's harmless but oh so forgettable. And that is its crime. There's nothing truly special about it, its settings, its characters, its action. It's all been done before 100% better. It was a decent romp but that's not enough these days.

Compare that with Pirates of the Caribbean which is STILL entertaining and very memorable.

I absolutely fell in love with this film. I went into the theater not expecting much more than a good Sat afternoon film. Came out really impressed and had a great time. Can't ask for much more than that.

And I'll honestly say that I also enjoyed Sorcerer's Apprentice.

It's funny. My roommate tonight asked me if I have seen Prince of Persia. She goes "it was terrible!"

I guess it just wasn't for some folks.

Easy A - More of a high school kids movie, but good none the less. Very interesting, had a touch of the good 80's movies to it. I think Hollywood just found Lindsay Lohan's replacement. Emma Stone looks like her and acts far better than her.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

^ You forgot the fact that Emma Stone is 10 times hotter than Lindsay EVER was.

From my DVD library on Wednesday, I kicked off my Halloween movie watching with...

Ghostbusters - I guess meeting Dan that day had something to do with it. A classic. Still great after all these years. Hopefully the rumours are true that after Dan's done this promo tour for his Crystal Head Vodka, he's going to be working on Ghostbusters III.

    The Losers

I thought it was a pretty fun movie. Some mindless violence, some cool action scenes and HOT Zoe Saldana.

    Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Should have been called "Diary of a Jerk Kid". It was ok for what it was, but was the main character such a jerk in the book too? As with Kick @$$, Chloe Moretz stole every scene she was in.

Saw Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole in 3D earlier this evening, and absolutely LOVED IT! The animation is absolutely beautiful, it has an amazing score, and a fantastic story. Very epic movie, and the battle scenes are just intense. I haven't read any of the books, but I want to now after seeing the film. Will definitely go see this in theaters again!

From my DVD library, I pulled one out that I haven't watched in awhile, and it was a DVD that I haven't opened yet:
The Three Musketeers - the Disney one that came out in 1993; the live action one with Kiefer Sutherland and Charlie Sheen. Still fun. Could use a better DVD release though.
