Back to the Future: Part III - The first is the best. But the last is my favorite. Dunno if that makes sense, but I think the last one has the most heart. Maybe 'cause Doc is the last person you'd expect to have a romantic encounter and in this one, he and Mary Steenburgen are perfect together! Plus, between the two sequels, I just feel this one sets up and pays off moments much better than Part II did. And the overall western theme was just a lot of fun to experience.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - I have my IMAX ticket to watch Part 1 pre-ordered for this coming Saturday and I've been listening to The Deathly Hallows book on CD for the past month. So yesterday I popped this in to continue the catching-up. Wow! There were so many little details in HBP the movie that I missed on my first 3 or 4 viewings of it. And now I also realize how the filmmakers left themselves some leeway in looking for a certain horcrux in TDH films that is found a specific way in the books. I forgot
    Spoiler
Ginny hid the potions book while Harry closed his eyes, so the audience doesn't see where she put it nor what's nearby it
. I also finally noticed the ring young Riddle is playing with in Slughorn's memory. And the birds in the cage that are outside the Room of Requirement; never noticed before that that's where Malfoy takes them from when testing the cabinet. I blame looking at the actor's expressive faces for missing these details before. For me, six more days!!!

I quote the most from Part I and Part III. All the scenes in the saloon really crack me up.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - I was working on my computer yesterday and wanted to play something in the background. Decided on this. No matter what folks think about the film, I get the biggest joy and inspiration seeing 66-year old Harrison Ford don the fedora and climb around like a monkey on those stacks of crates in the beginning of this film. I've played this Blu-ray so much, I've forgiven much of its wackiness. It's a lotta fun to sit through now if I don't hold it up for inspection too much.

    Burn After Reading

The second half of the movie got really interesting. The Coen brother's most dark film, not what I was expecting.

Disney's A Christmas Carol - Hadn't been a fan of Zemekis's mo cap adventures, neither am I a big fan of Jim Carrey. But the positive reviews it received when it came out almost tipped me over into watching it. But eventually I skipped it in theatres. Today I bought it, using DMR's successful incentive of a $10 off coupon, and I just finished watching it. It's pretty darn good. Enjoyed it more than I expected. It's more Zemekis's direction that I credit than the mo cap, but I can easily see how creating his film with a computer made it much easier to do the film as he envisioned it. The human figures weren't as bad as I feared either, a few good steps removed from "creepy". Makes me interested in seeing The Polar Express or Beowulf now.....

    Robin Hood (2010)

I really enjoyed it. Perfectly casted, beautifully shot, superbly acted. I really liked seeing a different look at the Robin Hood legend and it's a very nice set up for a more traditional Robin Hood sequel if they do it. The cast couldn't have been better IMO.

Yesterday saw both Tangled and Harry Potter. I realize Harry Potter is just the first half of the last book, and I still enjoyed it, but just was too much exposition. So much to cram into it. Glad they made the decision to break it into 2 to begin with.

Tangled was really wonderful! We saw a free screening of it and are already planning on paying to see it again!

I completely agree. It's one of my favorite versions of Robin Hood.
