A Christmas Carol- Watched it a few nights ago on DVD...and it is still as much fun as it was when I saw it last Christmas!! Jim Carrey is still very good in this movie, and don't get me started about it being overdone!! It is STILL great.

Watched a few the past couple of days:

    Grown Up's
Pretty much the standard Adam Sandler comedy, had some chuckles, this one actually had a decent story. Worth the rental.

    Santa Clause 2 and 3
Started watching them on ABC Family, got tired of the commercials and watched most of the 3rd one on DVD. I still say the first is the best.

    Home Alone
The last 1/4 of the movie is great.

    At the theater:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - I thought it was very good. I wasn't sold at first when I saw the first trailer and the thought of Disney pulling out, but it turned out to be very good (I was a bit skeptical after Fox screwed-up The Dark Is Rising movie). Very good effects. It's too bad we won't see a boxed-set of all the movies on DVD or Blu (because of the different distributors) if they make all seven into movies. One of these days I have to re-read the books. I actually only ever read the first three.

Scrooge- The 1970 musical with Albert Finney. it's kind of a tradition in our household to watch this, and this movie is an amazing retelling of the story. I especially love one of the final sequences: "Thank You Very Much."

Happiest Millionaire. it was... long. But kinda fun.

Tron - it was good. Loved the fight scenes.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    From my DVD library:
Inception - Awesome. Complex. 2nd time seeing it. This definitely needs a few viewings to take it all in. Another Nolan masterpiece. Neat seeing the old Fortress Mountain ski resort in Alberta where all the ski and mountain scenes were filmed.

Hot Dog... The Movie - It wouldn't be the start of the ski season without watching this oldy from 1983. Great stuff. Rudi cracks me up. "A Lay Tuck Tuck Triple!"

Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales - I know these technically aren't movies, but I wanted to chat about them briefly here. I'd never seen any of these nine shorts on TV and thanks to DMR's $8 off coupon, I was lured into picking up this Blu-ray for only twelve dollars and a nickel at my local Best Buy. Watched them all last night and MAN are these entertaining! And clever and funny! Then, I was shocked again when I saw Lasseter's directing credit on all but one of them. How great is that when the guy at the top is still working on shorts with the rest of the company!! I got a great deal on this disc, and YMMV on how much you feel 38 minutes of high def Pixar goodness is worth paying for, but if you ever watch these, I guarantee you'll LOL more than once.
