Filet being taken off menus around WDW

I have read this in numerous places now, but it appears that most restaurants at Disney which serve filet will no longer be doing so soon.

It doesn't make sense to me, especially at a restaurant such as Artist Point - where it's either off the menu already or should be soon.

Le Cellier should still have it's filet's, I'd expect Yachtsman also (since it is a steakhouse). Not sure who else will.

That's too bad. Less options is always a bad thing. 'Specially classy options, in a theme park.

I have 2 things to say about this. I'm not happy about it, as I'm a beefeater and the filet is usually one of the finer cuts.

The other thing, Denise, is that your statement above is really a spectacular demonstration of really unique sentence construction! I understood it, but I'm not quite sure how . . .

If that's true, I'd be disappointed. I don't eat a lot of beef, but when I do, it's usually a filet. I wonder if some restaurants are taking it off the menu because they're losing money due to the DDP. I would imagine many people on the dining plan would be inclined to order the most expensive steak on the menu.

I like Sirloin and it has been gone.

looks like you have 2 choices now - T-bone or prime rib (which is not a steak)

    Why, thank you Dan.

It's not like I can link to other boards with their lengthy threads on this subject. This is really big news elsewhere, and someone had called Kona to see if they were removing the filet (yes). Someone else had said that Artist Point just removed theirs, and that the Coral Reef and Brown Derby recently had. Between this and the MNSSHP that got cancelled, it's been quite a week for Disney fans to vent.

The filet is my favorite cut of beef (I don't like cuts of meat with too much fat).

I just had the filet at Boma last month. I wonder how many restaurants have a filet and will lose it from their menu?

No surprise here. I've been saying for months that this sort of thing is what the DDP will bring (and now, has wrought).

Is this for a specific reason or just to cut costs?

I don't actually like the filet, but it's sad to see choices and quality leaving the nice restaurants. I have to chalk it up to the DDP as well.

Kevin - you do realize that we are now deep into the * 4th * year of the dining plan? It started in January, 2005.

The plan itself was stripped of the appetizer and tip for this year, so I'd not have expected a major change in food offerings as well. Personally, I'd prefer to see Disney do away now with the DDP entirely.

I'm reading threads elsewhere, and some of the restaurants the filet has been removed from:

Kona, Captains Grille, Citricos and Teppan Edo (sirloin is replacing the filet).

I feel about the DDP the same way many people feel about Fastpass.

It has really killed a large chunk of the "enjoyability" of WDW for me.

DDP doesn't include an app anymore? Wow. People still pay for this?
