Block Party Bash, Place your Bets!

Ok. I was thrilled when I heard BPB was coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios. When I first saw it in California, I totally loved it, and said to myself there is no way WDW would pull off a parade like that, much less that actually parade. My primary reason is until recently, WDW entertainment was really lacking in the quaility department. Though to give it credit, the re-stage Dreams Come True (regular full version, not the current a-bridged(pun) version) is much better then the Snow Globe commercial that use to run and zap all life out of the viewers. Dream along with Mickey is a cute and entertaining, not spectacular but good, MUCH better the Cinderellabration.

When they started Block Party at Hollywood Studios, I made sure I went every opportunity I had. I was thrilled it was the same version as in California but I had a theory that would not last, due to heat. Which was all along a secondary factor to why I though it would never come here. That theory became reality and the show stops lengths were greatly reduced. But it would "Return" to normal after the summer season.

Ok... so with all the entertainment cuts we've seen WDW doing.... place your bets.....

Do you think Block Party Bash will return to its full length show stops or do you think that's a thing of the past?
For what its worth..... I know someone in the parade who is 100% convinced its coming back, that is until I asked the follow question to him.... Are there any full length show stop rehearsals being conducted so that it can be reintroduced? He admitted there was not and conceeded that by now, there would likely need to be as LOTS of the current cast have never been trained on the full length version. The question clearly made him doubt is conviction that it was coming back for sure.

For what it's worth, everyone's getting paid the same regardless if it's the shortened version or the full version so it wouldn't make sense for WDW to keep it short due to any budget cuts. Once stuff at WDW gets cut it does tend to stay cut but I don't see why they wouldn't go back to full, unless they use the shortened show as a vehicle to make cuts to performers and end up down that played out route again.

Well, the problem is that Florida also has to deal with the equity situation. Performers there can't do as much as the ones at DCA could, and the heat is much less bearable there. I'd give them a break.

Have you watched the show and compared the choreography between Florida's and what DCA's was? If so you'll notice it's the same and your first statement doesn't apply.

Florida is hiring performers from an outside company to do the acrobatic roles of the show and as a result is paying more money for the same performance that the people at DCA did for less. In fact several of them are former DCA performers who went over there to work for this outside company because of that for the extra money. I'm one of the first people not to like most of Florida's choreography and groan about seemingly meaningless cuts like not being able to lift someone during Fantasmic just because Equity says that's "too complex" but when they do put the full choreography into a show they deserve some credit.

The heat is less bearable over there and that's why the shortened version of the show took place, definitely along the lines of something we all thought they'd do though if not cut the showstops entirely but that didn't seem quite right, and they did make it through about the end of May doing the full version of the show. But the point is now that Fall is coming and the summer humidity is dying down will they implement the full version of the show like they should or not.

Why? WHY I SAY!

It's 100% better than anything WDW has gotten since Tapestry of Nations, that's for sure.

SpectroMagic.

I just don't like Block Party Bash. Apart from the Pixar characters, nothing in it is Disney at all. And it's not even a parade, it's more of a show, an awful show. The first thing I said when I first saw the Pixar Play Parade was... God, this is so much better than Block Party Bash!

Spectro.... I *could* go off on a long list of why I like Block Party much more then Spectro.... but I won't. I asked what compares, and will admit I did not consider Spectro, and I should have, because arguement aside, it does compare. I like it alot too.

Anyway... to answer my own original question.... I am one to usually expect the worst, and hope for the best, and on that philosiphy, I will guess that Block Party does not return to its orginal full length version.

Ummmmm the whole point of the parade was to feature pixar only in the first place. So, I'm not quite sure where you're going there. And spectro was WDW's cheap replacement for the electrical parade which was/is/ and always will be better than Spectro. As much as spectro deserves credit for being there cause WDW would be even more boring with out a night parade, there are much better parades out there and BPB is definitely helping DHS, so I don't think you're giving BPB enough credit by saying oh it sucks its horrible.

You're misunderstanding me. I know the parade is only supposed to feature Pixar characters. But I'm saying aside from the characters themselves, & the floats, nothing about it is Disney (Pixar). Most of the music is god awful. Whenever I saw that parade in DCA, I would just run in the opposite direction.

I do agree with you that MSEP is a hundred times better than Spectro. But Spectro is the best parade currently at WDW. I haven't ever seen that in depth pics or seen in person Jamin Jungle. And Disney Dreams Come True has a cool song, but the floats themselves are too old!
