EMH wristbands to be discontinued September 7th

Beginning September 7 2008, Disney Resort Guests need to present their Key to the World cards (or applicable resort ID), instead of wristbands, for accessing evening Extra Magic Hours attractions.

Wow. Thats an interesting labor cut. I kind of like it as I always felt the wrist band was a hassle to get for the guests. This is was Disney speading too much money on labor to prevent a very small percent of the population that might take advantage of the loop whole.

I say Kudos!

I am happy with this. The wrist bands were annoying and sometimes not easy to get to the location they had them.

This is a good thing. It's a pain to get those wristbands ... and then take them off afterwards.

I like it, but now are we going to have to flash our cards at every attraction?

That would make it very easy to lose your card, I would think. Getting it out and putting it away at each attraction....

plus they are unlikely to scan the cards at the attractions - meaning it will be very easy for people to 'fake it' with old keys. I don't recall if the various resorts have dates on their keys ???

it wasn't complicated - there were NUMEROUS locations around the park and like almost everything in the parks, a simple question to a CM will lead you on your way

Re: "Extra Magic Hours" Discontinues Wristbands

Hmmmm. I'm undecided on if I like this or not. I mean, if they're not going to scan your card at each attraction, what's the point? It's dark when they have to check, so are they easily going to see the dates on the card? It just seems like a logistical nightmare at the ride entrance to enforce this policy when they could easily just LOOK for a wristband before. So, I highly doubt this was done for enforcement. It sounds like it was just done to eliminate the CM positions of distributing wristbands. I never found it hard at all to find the wristband distribution points. Nor was there usually a line.

I'll have to see it in action to make a decision.

Yeah, they have the date on them. Also, remember Disney can change the way information is printed on the cards. A larger font size for the date is not out of question.

Oh I like that idea. I thought those were sort of a pain but I didn't mind to get extra time on the attractions.
