Re: Epcot - 08/23/08 - A trip around World Showcase and Stormstruck.

I love last minute getaways like this (might do one myself this weekend). Looks like you had a really nice day.

So is that storm thing even worth checking out for a native Floridian that's been inundated with "what to do in a storm" his whole life? Or is it more geared towards visitors to give them an idea of what we go through?

What a fun report especially with the rain! I haven't been to WDW yet, so seeing the World Showcase was really cool. Thanks for posting the pics!

Huh, put it that way and I can't say yes to either question Harry. As another Floridian that's be inundated with the "what to do in a storm" it kinda felt rushed. I understand they have to get people through it but realistically when you go in, you sit there and in the next 30 seconds a Category 3 hurricane comes through, it's not exactly realistic. LOL

They forget to tell you the "hurry up and wait" part that comes with any hurricane warning we receive. I think the main message they are trying to convey is what can happen and what you could do to protect your house better against it.

The group I was with voted to leave the windows open but put tape on them. If that gives you any indication of how people just don't understand hurricanes. LOL

MOSI in Tampa has this great Hurricane re-creator, you have to remove all loose items and wear ear protection. Then they take you inside and turn those fans on to recreate a Cat 3 or 4? wind (It's been so long I don't remember). It does a great job of giving you an idea of what's going to happen, Storm struck just gives you 3D glasses and sprays water at you periodically.

I just know they could have done so much more with it to get the point across and they could have made a really great attraction but it seemed a little cheaped down.

OMG, I was so embarrassed, she had no idea she wasn't allowed to sit at the bar. I don't typically take her to places where that's an issue. (I guess that's a good thing. LOL)
