To Disney for ever letting any of the bricks from getting to the state where guests feel a need to have to clean them up (and I have seen many in poor shape over the past few years)

Re: Leave a Legacy Really Leaving?

I just want to know what happened to it and why. I was guaranteed to have that brick there for at least 10 years. It hasn't been 10 years yet.

Re: Leave a Legacy Really Leaving?

The problem with "stunt" promotions at Disney is this: the people who come up with it, will push for these things to get done.. like the Walk around Half of the World, and the Lagacy Mausoleum at EPCOT. Then, those people move on.. and those who are in charge afterwards see no need for that nonsense and insanity. Then budgets start to creep in.. like, how much they have to spend on cleaning and upkeep, which WDW does not do much of now a days... and voila! We have projects that are terminated before their time or projects that after a while, become a tired or dated idea.

BTW.. I like that Annette avatar

Re: Leave a Legacy Really Leaving?

You know I won't be too broken up if it does go away, but I think I would be much more upset if I had paid to have my image added to it. And I definitely would be speaking to someone in guest relations about it if I did! One thing that always struck me was how much empty space is left on the legacy stones, it doesn't look like it sold anywhere near as well as the bricks did...

I really miss the gardens that used to be there, especially the topiaries of the dancing alligators and Hippo's from Fantasia. I would love to have them just restore those.

Now I am not sure the ratio, but a lot of people did not pay for their placement on the Leave a Legacy wall. Back in 03, and 04 and I believe partly in 05 people got it as a freebie with their package booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company.

I took a gentleman to the EPCOT this past weekend who had NEVER been to a Disney Park, so being the fact that it was 4:30 I decided on EPCOT.

It was hillarious as we entered the park, he asked if the the tombstones were a military tribute... lol I told him no, that it was in remembrence of those who have died on Disney rides! He turned pale white and asked me if things were safe now... I told him I was joking and that it was a promotional thing... He then said... How creepy.

Always great to get a fresh perspective!

My mother and I have been on one of the stones since 2000. I'm not partial to either side of the arguement. Sure, the structures may look better elsewhere but the reflections cast off of them are spectacular at times.

Re: Leave a Legacy Really Leaving?

To be honest... the images on those Legacy boards are not flattering at all. Very poor quality. I was one of them who fell for this idea (ok, I wanted the pin given to those who bought into it) but have never liked the quality of the image itself... and I would pay them to have this entire exhibit removed.

EPCOT Center should welcome guests into it the same way DLP welcomes theirs. Beautifully landscapped gardens... water streams and fountains... flowers.. basically with a bright and colorful (Earth-friendly) feel.

That's priceless, I wish you caught that reaction on video...

As I recall it was also one of the "Wishes" options that the WDW travel company had with their promotion a while back, you could use them for food, picture frames, a picture on the "tombstones" etc. Each item had a varying amount of "wishes" points associated with it...

I had no idea who to ask because they really don't sell the bricks anymore. The kiosk outside MK is shuttered and since my brick was at the TTC, I couldn't find anyone around there to ask... and it's doubtful any of them would've known anyway. I also couldn't remember the number of my brick... I just remember it started with H18 or something like that.

I'm just sad because I want my brick back!

My kids are on there because of that promotion. We had a choice of either $25 at Planet Hollywood or a Leave a Legacy tile. There was some other choice as well. I think it WAS a picture. I think it was back around 2003 if I recall.

The picture is pretty crappy. I have the original that they took around here somwhere as well.

Re: Leave a Legacy Really Leaving?

lets just say removal of the pictures is an issue, why not consolidate the pictures into a group of the orck structures and remove all the one sthat have no pictures.

I know there are plenty of empty areas scattered around in those ugly things
