castles in all five Magic Kingdoms

You'll have to forgive me since I didnt know which forum to put this in as this topic is basically about all five resorts. And this is the one I hang out in the most.

My question: Do you think that all 5 Magic Kingdoms (or Disneylands) shouldve have been built with different castles in each park?

I kinda think they should for the sake of having each MK be unique.

Aside from Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty's castles there's also Snow White and Beauty and the Beast castles that couldve been used.

    Thoughts?

Well it used to be that way, DLP is modeled after the Beauty and the Beast castle. Interestingly enough originally DLP was not going to have a castle as it's icon since "real" castles where literally a short drive away from the parks, although I'm glad they did since it looks amazing. They didn't start "cloning" Cinderella's castle until TDL was built. And I guess once that was done it's probably going to continue with any additional new locations.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't TDL built before DLP?
He felt like his life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.

Overall, the castles are very different (except I think for the TDL castle, I have never been there but it looks the same as ours). My favorite is the Disneyland Paris castle - it is really beautiful!!!! And I love the dragon.

The one in Tokyo has different coloring in the bricks and gold trimming/accents throughout the entire Castle. Definatley more eye candy than WDWs. It looks amazing in person.

I've not seen that one or HK yet. I keep forgetting about Hong Kong!

I hope to someday see both.

I think that each Magic Kingdom style park should have had it's own castle, especially HK Disneyland, I don't think any park should have Disneyland's castle since it was the first one.

The Hong Kong one is nice to, but not as eye catching as the original at DL. The best part of it is the mountain backdrop, IMO. I loved seeing the blue/pink color show at night! Wish DL did that once or twice a night!

My idea is that, if Pixie Hollow closed, Belle's Castle should go to DL, Snow White's go to TDL, and Ariel's go to HKDL.

..and TDL's castle happen to be a bit taller as well.. due to a slightly different style of rod at the top of the castle. Also, TDL's castle has a more rugged texture on the rocky bottom than the MK's, plus the entryway features a different type of design which reveals hidden Mickeys on the shadow when the sun hit it correctly.

But to answer the original question.. I too would have loved to see different castle designs for each of the parks. Reason why DLP will always be a very unique approach and probably the most accomplished. However, what makes it or break it is how they are treated and maintained. TDL's castle is now very different looking to the one at the MK, and the HKDL castle remains a throw back to the original design in CA. All five castles are unique in their own ways, but my preferences remains in this order from best to not so best...
    1) DLP, Disney most accomplished and themed. Does not get any better.
    2) TDL (in it's current form) and because it is greatly maintained and cleaned.
    3) DL, did a lovely job adding some accents that are unique.
    4) HKDL (and how beautifully the mountains enhance it)
    5) MK, still impressive but currently has the worst paint scheme of all the castles out there...and a BBB in it. Yuk.

Hey TDLFAN, you have obviously seen all of these castles in person. But, are you certain TDL's is taller than MK's, I always thought WDW's castle was about 10 feet taller?

According to the statistics I have seen several years ago, the TDL castle is about 4 feet taller. Trust me. They are pretty much the same in height, since they used the same engineering plans from WDW to build it.
