Swiss Family Treehouse Suddenly Shut Down

    from WDW News Today
The Swiss Family Treehouse at the Magic Kingdom unexpectedly closed today for a refurbishment that is now scheduled to continue through the end of the month. With such a sudden unannounced closure, we can only guess that something was discovered to be wrong with the classic walk-through exhibit that has forced it to close for repairs on such short notice.

I wonder what caused them to close it off so suddenly? Did someone break into the treehouse or cause some damage, or did it just need some touching up and figured why not do it right away?

Huh, I was just on it last week. I did notice that they had a fence around one of the portions where they were doing some work. I wonder if they thought it would be easier just to close the whole thing for now.

That turnstile turns so few times, that it probably doesn't make a difference if they spontaniously decide to close that attraction for long periods of times.

I will! It's the best step aerobics program in the Magic Kingdom!

If I had to guess they probably found something that might cause an injury like a bad step or railing during the other repairs and decided to err on the side of caution and close it until it could be fixed.

Just supposition, mind you, but they quickly closed Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland last year when it was discovered that some of the supporting branches needed shoring up and hadn't been engineered for the stresses they had been put under over the previous decades. If the WDW Treehouse was built using the same plans, it is possible the same weaknesses developed requiring the same remediation.

I bet they were probably thinking about the other bridges and supports all over after fixing up the Liberty Square bridge, and realized that the tree's supports could use some sprucing up? Interesting point about Tarzan's Treehouse, that's a good possibility that could be it.

    That's the best....
He felt like his life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.
