Re: Journey Into Imagination

Here is the excellent three part, complete ride video plus some of the old Imageworks (the science section is here too of course, to answer an earlier question).

No, that's the new track. Part of the original track is now used for the queue and downstairs ImageWorks, while the rest was used for the current ride. If I'm not mistaken, the original ride was about 10 minutes long whereas versions 2 and 3 are about 5 minutes long.

Oh those are Martin Smith's videos! They're awesome! He has some great ones of World of Motion and Horizons too!

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood the question. Red plus yellow is the current crack of course. Red is the part of the original track that remains from the original.

Yes, I've seen them all multiple times...but JII by far is my favorite. I hope before he retires Tony Baxter cares enough to pressure the suits into rebuilding this ride. IMO this was the best original ride ever built in Orlando. Maybe, the best ride built in Orlando period.

Re: Journey Into Imagination

I've heard rumblings John Lasseter wants to redo it. Fingers crossed it's got some truth.

Hopefully that does not mean the insertion of Pixar characters ...

Is there any way fans can petition for a return? It can't hurt the chances for them to know how many people care about it.

Re: Journey Into Imagination

Ever since the Toad debacle, I've lost faith in online petitions. Thousands of people signed, there were several protests at the park.... it did squat.

True...however Pooh is a much bigger money-maker than Toad in terms of merchandise, and the Pooh ride is quite popular. I doubt the new JII is as popular as the old one...and has likely diminished Figment's ability to sell merchandise. Disney might be more responsive to reasoning such as that...

Re: Journey Into Imagination

^^I love the Pooh characters (Tigger is my all-time favorite character period), but I can't stand that ride!

As for Imagination, it's always a walk-on every time I visit. I have to wait for maybe one car to load before my turn. The original version of the ride always had long lines.

Re: Journey Into Imagination

The best video with all the information on what things used to be like, what was changed, what's there now, and what became of the old stuff, is going to be found in Martin's videos, particularly the updated one that he released this past June. It's 55 minutes long and includes full ride-throughs of all 3 versions as well as side-by-side comparison shots, diagram building-layout shots, etc... all in one video.

It can be downloaded here from mousebits.com (requires knowledge of how to download a torrent)

BTW, I've heard the old track is actually still under the floor in ImageWorks and the queue.

I never really thought about that, but it does explain why it suddenly slopes upwards as you go deeper into the building
