ORWEN: (gasp!) Surely you don't think any of the DISNEY squirrels or rabbits have rabies!!! I mean, that would just take all the magic out of everything! Aren't these supposed to be the same cute little furry animals that were in Snow White and Sleeping Beauty? Surely if they'd had rabies, the princesses would have been bitten, too, and reported it by now!!

ORGOCH: (shakes head) I swear Orwen! If'n ya was a hog--which ya IS--a person could lead ya to a water trough an' STILL have ta tell ya when ta drink er ya'd die a thirst....

Re: Disturbing and Rude

I, for one, am completely on the little girl's side. If more people would kick squirrels instead of feeding them, everyone would be much better off, including the squirrels.

I recently got back from a trip to Zion national park. The squirrels there had been repeatedly fed and were completely out of hand. Of course, people were still feeding them because people are stupid.

Maybe the squirrels should start kicking back. Seriously, how asinine is that? Kicking squirrels? Don't you think that we have a responsibility to be humane? Don't get me wrong, animals taste good and all but hurting them just for the sake of it?

Yes but think of the new CM openings that would create after the lawsuit when Disney would have to spray paint warning labels on all the wild animals in the parks warning people they might bite if you try to hand feed them...

Geesh let's stay positive people!

Staying positive? On a thread in the "Celebrate the Parks" section? Perish the thought!

Ok, I would have to agree w/ the fact that alot of parents are not teaching manners. I have two. One is 8 and the other is 7 and they know better. We (my husband and I) both keep them by our sides at all times. (There is just way to much that can happen to them in a park that big ) We too went to WDW sept.7th-18th and we ran into so many kids that were running around w/ no parents in sight, but we also encountered several adults like that too. Most would bump in to you and not say anything. We actually had several that would nearly knock the kids down and keep going though they clearly saw my kids. My kids would never do anything like that nor would I.Kids learn by example. My kids would say excuse me,yes/no sir, thank you, and ect. We teach our children that you treat people the way you want to be treated and that all living things are treated kindly.

I will say one thing I saw were some one wrote that all kids are stupid.(maybe I read it wrong)I have to disagree with that. Kids are not stupid, but they need to be taught right from wrong. Kids are very smart and learn quick.

That was me, and I meant it somewhat tongue in cheek. No, kids are not really stupid, but they don't know nearly as much as they will when they're grown up. Kids will do stuff that appears to be completely stupid, but it's simply that they don't have enough life experience to know any better. My point was that this little girl was not some kind of monster who would grow up to take a machine gun up into a bell tower and kill 47 people. She was just a kid who probably hadn't had much experience with squirrels, and was, in her mind, simply having fun.

Anyone see the Simpsons episode where Bart killed a mama bird with a pellet gun? He was just devastated, and spent the rest of the episode trying to tend to the mama's babies. Very similar to squirrel girl - if she'd actually been able to stomp on the squirrel, I betcha she would have totally freaked out.

Sounds like you're training your kids very well, RUNMYHORSE, and you should be applauded for it.

Re: Disturbing and Rude

That's beyond bad manners, that's cruelty to animals. But too many apathetic and clueless parents today are raising brats; they let them do anything, then try to shield them from any consequences for their actions. Then later in life, they wonder why they have to bail their darlings out of jail...

The problem is, if I ever actually have kids of my own, they'll have to deal with the little jerks that will be the product of the above parenting.

I'd say you're giving the little monster way too much credit...

And as I've already said, people are being way too quick to jump on this kid and say she's a little monster. She may indeed be, but it's awfully hard to tell by one incident.
