Re: Is the Yeti working in E.E.?

Just curious, how long does refurb take to get this done? I mean are they going to need to repour the Yeti foundation or just pull him off or what?

I know this is the running rumor but I have yet to here this confirmed by any of the posters who are truly in the know. I've heard it repeated so often that many take it as fact, but I haven't heard it confirmed yet.

Well, Kevin Yee said on here he knows the issue to be related to the foundation. He seems to be rather "in the know" to me.

I missed the cracking foundation part. That said, he also said the repairs should be put in shortly and it shouldn't take too long.

I disagree. Some of the effects are just turned off. If Waterfall A is working, why can't Waterfall B? The mountain clouds were, conveniently, working when Joe Rhode visited the park for the 10th. They mysteriously vanished a week later.

Now, the Yeti, he has some issues that need to be attended to. The cave mist will probably never return because it was causing E-Stops. Lastly, the bird, who cares about it? It was a cheap looking effect from the beginning.

this is the one i'm hoping for.

Talking Re: Is the Yeti working in E.E.?

i understand that normal wear and tear occurs and that there will always be unforseen issues... but doesn't something like a crack in the foundation of a massive AA seem kind of odd? especially for what is essentially a brand new and state of the art ride? imagineered/engineered by high caliber folks? it strikes me as so surprising that such issues would come up so soon.

i know that the mountain, the ride and the yeti are all independent structures, but could the supposed crack in the yeti's foundation make the ride structure itself unsafe?

forgive me for not knowing, but who is joe rhode?

in any event, MAN do i love that ride.

There are two sides to this story.

1. The foundation is cracked.
2. Stress fractures occurred within the Yeti itself.

I trend to believe # 2 is more accurate than #1.

Saying that the ride is damaged due to the yeti problems is like saying the roof of your own house is going to collapse because your neighbor's house's support beams are rotted. (if you live in non-connected houses of course)

And Joe Rhode is the father of Animal Kingdom.

Rode Everest about 5 days ago and the Yeti is still out of commision. You can hardly see it when you ride thru that cave. I think it's pathetic of Disney. The way things like that are allowed to go into non-working mode at many rides at WDW, I am beginning to believe we'll never see the Yeti in operation again... Of course, I do hope I am wrong and I hope they prove me wrong!

Actually, it probably pays to be cautious on this one. My info was fairly inspecific... I wasn't corrected when I made mention of the foundation, but that's also not the same thing as confirmation that the problem is the foundation.

On top of all that, the manager I was speaking with was pretty certain that the fixes would be in place by now. That they are not speaks volumes. Either the problem is bigger than I (or they) thought, or the info was suspect to begin with.

If something like this happened over at TDL you'd probably be full of excuses and apologies for that park.

LoL. I'm actually with tdlfan on this one. In my mind, the yeti is the actual star of Animal Kingdom. Yeah, his ride is really fun, but people are going on it to see the yeti! And if he's not working, then management is failing.

While I don't see WDW in as bad of a light as TDLFAN does I have to argue for his integrity on this matter. When TDR has failed to live up to the high standards it has set for himself he has complained about it, for example, see the thread about Crush coming to TDS in the Tokyo section of this board.
