My opinion Aimster? Honestly.. since management did not care to celebrate WDW's (or specifically the MK's) 37th, then why should we? THEY set the mood. That seems to be the rationale with WDW's management with everything they do now a days... and it is very sad. Truth is.. many of us DO CARE! Why do you think I rant on WDW so much?? THIS is the park I grew up in, the one I was proud to be a CM of, and the one I still enjoy to visit to this day, even with it's many shortcomings dujour. WDW is run by people who only care for the bottom line ($$$) and not the overall and highest possible quality they can offer! That is the problem with WDW right now. The fact that there are a million hits and posts in the DLR section and not as many here... well... I think it's a fact that speaks for itself.

That would be because the majority of posters here have never been or never even intend to go to TDR, much less TDS and hence, they do not have a connection with that park like those of us who have been DO. Trust me... TDR to this day celebrates every single anniversary every year.. be it with merchandise or through a special event of some sort...OR BOTH! With added enphasis on the milestone anniversaries. OLC does care about this and recognizes (unlike the WDW management of today) that these celebrations DO bring many guests and fan back over and over again, even during "slow" periods, which are quite infrequent at TDR mind you.
However... everyone who has been to TDS can attest to this simple fact: it is Disney's most accomplished and lavish theme park ever created, in both entertainment, shopping and restaurant venues and overall, in fabulous spetacular fashion. If you have never been there.. you simply have no idea how good the Walt Disney Imagineers can really be when given free reigns to reach for the stratosphere. That is why I get pretty upset about the quality of WDW today, which marketing passes up as the crown of the Disney Theme park empire and that is simply a horrible lie to keep your dollars coming in. Thank God some of us know better and can call Disney up on their shortcomings with WDW as a whole and they are many!!! WDW guests do not know any better and are oblivious to the greatness that Disney can be, pure and simple.. but I guess when you come from Wichita, the UK or even Brazil... even disjointed magic can be an acceptable substitude for the harsh realities of our World. But when that magic comes with a price attached, I will hold it against them to exceed my expectations, and that... WDW hardly does now a days. Sorry to say.

Seeing how upbeat and festive this B-Day thread is, I can't see the reason why it languishes uncelebrated. Maybe more Wonderpup is needed.

Re: Happy 37th Birthday, Magic Kingdom!

Perhaps there is not the same level of emotional attachment to the FL version of the Magic Kingdom that the original enjoys?

Exactly! Even I love DL much more than the MK, considering I stepped foot at the MK 13 years earlier than DL.

^^ That's not a half bad idea. Who knows when I'll finally make it over there?
