Re: Teenagers and Disney

Almost 18 and still lovin' the Disney (well, theme parks and older live action films more than the animated ones right now with a few exceptions). My problem is not people not getting my love for Disney, it's I can't understand why Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast are all better than Sleeping Beauty, The Great Mouse Detective, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Happiest Millionaire, The Black Hole, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Black Cauldron, 101 Dalmatians, Cinderella, The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band, The Rocketeer, Newsies, Hocus Pocus, Summer Magic, The Rescuers, Lady and the Tramp, Pollyanna, The Parent Trap!, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Swiss Family Robinson, Return to Oz, etc.

Hey it's not my fault I can't connect with my generation

The Duggars are that family that has 18 kids and they live in a like 10,000 sq foot house or something. Seems like every year the mom is popping out another kid.

So THAT'S who the Duggars are. I wonder why I've never heard of them. My family is only me, my 2 sisters, my mom, and my dad. 5 of us in a 12,000sq ft. house. lol

Re: Teenagers and Disney

Nice to know I'm not the only one in the boat of being made fun of. I'm 20 (soon to be 21) and I absolutely love Disney and it's Kingdom Hearts franchise.

It was actually Kingdom Hearts that got me back into Disney. And then I realized what was happening to my once cherished company (we're talking about the flood of sequels, the ruin of the channel, and the Pressler era at the parks)

I'm going into studio animation at the UofA and I plan on becoming either a concept/storyboard artist at Pixar or an immagineer (or whatever they're called now)

WOW. Pixar is something I'm thinking about doing. In fact, Pixar should be in its own field.

Re: Teenagers and Disney

Hey Firebolt413, you and I are on the same page. Disney and Star Wars? Yes. I'm 18 now and am obsessed with Disney and of course Star Wars I have been going to Disneyland ever since I was born, I think. My family has pictures of when I was a baby at theme parks, but I really remember when I was about three and we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and it was amazing. My family has been going to Disneyland since even before my dad when my grandfather and grandmother would go. They eventually took the kids and the tradition has been passed down to today. My family tries to go at least once a year to Disneyland for a week long vacation. Now everybody seems to go with us from my grandfather to my cousins, aunts and uncles. My whole family seems to be obsessed with Disney except for those who have to pay for the trips, i.e. my dad. Its something normal in my family, but when it comes to friends and everybody else, they are all right with it. In fact I have converted my friends from being skeptics of Disney to loving the parks. Last summer, my friends and I went to Disneyland for our "senior trip," since we didn't have one. There was five of us and we had lots of fun, and for my best friends they said and I quote, "It was magical." These are people who only when maybe three times in their whole lives, so yeah. I'm from Tucson, Arizona (Wooh! U Of A!!), but I'm going to school in Florida, so my friends said theywould come down if I make plans to Disney World. Woo... sorry for the long post.

Re: Teenagers and Disney

I'm 30 years old and love Disney. My wife at times rolls her eyes at me, but she loves it as well, maybe just not as much as I do. Sure I get grief from it. "You're going to Disney again?" But I don't care. They have their hobbies and I don't get them. "You're going out fishing again?" To each their own. Life is too stressful to worry about what makes you relaxed.

Re: Teenagers and Disney

haha that's great. I have only been to Disney Land twice. When I was 4 years old, and may of 2007 when I was 14 years old when I went for the Star Wars Celebration 4 convention in downtown Los Angeles. But I miss going to Disney as a little kid. It's like your in a whole different world.

My whole family and everyone I know thinks that something is wrong with me for still liking Disney and think I 'm very childish and immature for liking it. My parents are also trying to prevent me from going to Disney. In addition to being an actor, I want to be like Walt Disney and George Lucas and I want to one day restore DisneyWorld and Disneyland to all its former glory. Now on to my question: Has anything like what I just described happened to any of you guys? And what are your thought on this?
When I was 14/15/16 my parents thought I was CRAZY and weird for LOVING Disney as much as I did. They never tried to prevent me from liking the park though. I find it normal.

Re: Teenagers and Disney

I'm 14 and I am obsessed with Disney as well. Luckily, my parents are too. They collect all kinds of Disneyana, and I love that they do because I can't afford it! To put our obsession in perspective, we live in Minnesota, but my parents and I (not my brothers) have APs to WDW.....we had APs to DL last year.

BTW you have awesome ambitions....don't give up!

Re: Teenagers and Disney

The thing I'm currently being made fun of is my Wall-E obsession. I missed the flick in theaters. But the University I go to had it on special for 3 bucks at their small theater. Figuring 3 bucks wasn't that bad of a gamble, I watched it and fell in love it it. I watched it again the next day to find stuff I overlooked from the previous run.

.... and I think I developed a crush on *shot before she finishes*
