Question How do you help a trouble-stricken family get to WDW?

It's been a while since I've posted but, I have a big question for our awesome fan community. How do you send a family with a terminally ill father to the world? I've tried to find a charity group but, have been unsuccessful.

To elaborate, a local family around here (in Desoto, Kansas) was given some terrible news. The father of the family, who had overcome cancer before, has been given 6 months to live with colon cancer. He has 4 children and they've never been to WDW. A lot of people around here are trying to help this family out. I was asked how do we get them to WDW. As of right now, all I can say is IDK.

Any help is incredibly appreciated!

According to Make A wish's website:

Quote:
Do you grant wishes to adults?

No. The Make-A-Wish Foundation only grants wishes to children who have been referred to the organization and determined to be eligible for a wish before their 18th birthday by their physician. However, there are other wish-granting organizations that grant wishes to adults.
Maybe you could have like a block party type thing where you sell food & stuff and have a car wash to raise money.

Here's a couple places that might help:

Deliver the Dream:
Deliver the Dream : Non-profit organization helping families experiencing serious illness

DreamFoundation:

Does Disney have any programs? Or do they just work with other organizations?

I would say champion this. My BFF his father was diagnosed with pancriatic cancer and with the help of family/friends/calling in lots of favors we were able to show them the week of a lifetime.

Basically if there is a will there is a way!

They only work with other organizations and the only thing they'll donate is park tickets. Just 4 one day hoppers if I remember correctly. I looked into it earlier this year when the non-profit I was working for was trying to find things to use as silent auction items/raffle prizes for a fundraiser we were putting together.

Re: How do you help a trouble-stricken family get to WDW?

Just wanted to say thank you everyone. I really appreciate it (obviously if the family knew about this plan they'd thank you too!)

My only real involvement in this whole this is to see if/how we could get them to WDW. Other people are planning concerts to raise money for the family; get a new house built and paid for (they've even contacted Extreme Home Makeover!); and there's many others I just can't think of them right now.
