Talking Now that PI is gone... what's for nightlife?

So... I am totally PO'ed about the closing of PI (don't even get me started on the closing of the AC, OMG... I was totally heart broken!) But now that it's happened and my hubby and I are still headed to WDW in November (coming out from San Diego!!) what should we do for night life? Hubby want's me to add that recommendations for dive bars are needed, not wanted... NEEDED! Oh... that darling hubby oof mine ;-)

I've never been outside of the WDW Resort so I'm not sure if CityWalk is worth our time/money or if there is anything super fun closer to the park. Suggestions are SO very welcome. I am a Disney fanatic but my hubby is not so much so any suggestion, on property or off, is welcome.

Also, we are starting our trip in Miami (7 day cruise with one day in Miami). I am WAY into Cuban food which is scarce in San Diego. If you have any restaurant recommendations for Cuban food or a really great shellfish restaurant please send my way. We are super big foodies that would love to hit up a fantastic restaurant in Miami.

Thanks!!! I am so excited for the trip!!

If you will be in Miami, head over to Ybor City, there is plenty of Cuban food there.

The Columbia is the place where all the tourists go, and it is pretty good. However, there are others around that are also good.

Ybor should also satisfy your husbands craving for dive bar esque night life. Just hang out there till the clubs start to open and you will see.

Erm, Ybor City is in Tampa, not Miami

Anyway, Citywalk IS worth going to IMO, they have a good variety of clubs, restaurants, bars and it's a great atmosphere!

Yeah Ybor City is in Tampa. I hate it though. It's a glorified meat market. And more often than not there's gang issues and other lowlife about. Even the occasional stabbing. I only venture down there if absolutely necessary. The cool clubs down there aren't so cool anymore.

Oh and FYI, Church Street Station in downtown Orlando is starting to make a comeback. There's a handful of other decent clubs in Downtown Orlando too. There's a section called "Wall Street" that has some interesting places to check out. I miss the old Barbarella's though. That place was awesome!

I actually preferred Citywalk to Pleasure Island. I think you should give it a look, you will probably like it. You could also head to the Boardwalk. They have a couple of nice places including Jellyrolls and the Atlantic Dance Hall.

I saw Miami, and read Tampa, go figure.

Ybor is a big meat market, no question about it. But it is fun, and not for the meat market aspects either, just for general people watching.

And yes, there are some dicey parts as well, but thats par for the course in just about any area like that. Make's it more interesting

Re: Now that PI is gone... what's for nightlife?

4-5 years ago I was in Ybor for a concert. A couple nights later, someone was stabbed to death in the same club I saw the concert at. Yeah I never went into that club again.

Jellyrolls is a great bar/club at the boardwalk hotel. I went with my friends last year and we got smashed... it was a blast

I also preferred CityWalk over PI. The clubs are better, and the whole atmosphere is catered more toward the adult and not the adult with a family.

Also, I know DTD Westside has that cuban restaurant... so you can check that out.

Hubby and I went to City Walk and had a great time. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the people watching as well. Saw some really crazy things!! LOL

Re: Now that PI is gone... what's for nightlife?

I've been a City Walk fan since it opened. I love Margaritaville for eating and the clubs are so much more adult in style. Nice not to have kids whining at the dinner table or during a show. Sorry but I like to unwind and don't need over-tired kids ruining my evening.

One thing I would say is avoid the so called dinner shows around Orlando. The entertainment is so so and the food is cr-p!

Re: Now that PI is gone... what's for nightlife?

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess I will take a swing by Citywalk. I miss the Adventurer's Club so much. :-( Oh well... I am sure we will find something to occupy us. Thanks!
