It's why I've avoided the HoP for such a long time. It's usually a hit or miss audience, the last 2 times I did the HoP I had no booing, so it was nice, but I always hated the idea of a popularity contest. It's even worse when they start clapping during the role call, since the clapping gets louder as the audience wants their favorite president to win, like some lame game show.

Maybe they should make an announcement about respecting the sanctity of the show and democracy in general and not make a fool out of yourself by clapping or booing for the fake version of the president.

I've been avoiding the Hall of Presidents for the last 8 years so I wouldn't have to listen to the shrub AA drone on.

I am so happy we'll have a president that can enunciate and form coherent sentences again!

*REMINDER!*

No political posts on the main board. Please keep this on the topic of AAs.
Thank you.

It amazes me how people get so wrapped up in politics (both sides) when all they are doing is listening to sound bites and media sensationalisim and not bothering to do any real thinking. Then they go to HoP and boo and cheer for metal armatures coverd in resin.

Maybe I have it all wrong, and they are booing and cheering the level of animation and reproduction that went into creating the AA's

Please ask Disney not to make such a POLITICAL attraction, as talking about it may violate a MiceChat policy. ????

Re: Obama as an AA

I think the point was not to take this post to the level of disparaging Bush or praising Obama. That's been the problem with HoP for years. People can't see it as an attraction about the history of Presidents they have to use it as a time to express their political opinion where it isn't needed.

We can certainly talk about the attraction without getting into a political debate on the merits of the Presidents represented.

I agree, which I why I generally hate politics and those who are involved in it like it's a hobby. No matter what one's political affiliate, if you align simply on the basis of "us vs. them", I just can't stand it.

I loved the Hall of Presidents when I went. To me, it was incredible to see these men ALL together in one place. This throughline of history, this is something you cannot physically do, that's why it's a great attraction, not for its political sidebar.

You can be engaged in politics without being a die hard partisan.

I love the Hall of Presidents and all American history.

I'm looking forward to seeing the attraction when it reopens. It looks like WDI is spending some serious cash and time to update it. I like seeing every president in one room and watching all the different mannerisms WDI programs into each one. I swear I see something different each time.

Re: Obama as an AA

The Hall of Presidents needs a refurbishment terribly. I actually took in my first showing ever (out of a lifetime of visiting WDW, that's pretty sad) earlier this year, and was surprised by the utter lack of care for this attraction. Granted, it's possible that management may see it as a show that is on its last legs' unpopular, boring, and not worth the effort to fix. The projections were fuzzy, wobbly, and constantly mis-aligned, on top of being discolored. The animatronics themselves looked to be fairly well-kept, though. I wasn't up terribly close, but the effect was pretty impressive. The Presidents themselves are a cool idea, and given a very cool hint of life by their little movements (I saw two of them appear to be whispering to one another during a speech).

However, this is a pretty small part of the show. I think what's there is a bit too slow-paced and flatly-presented, and could use a bit of re-tooling. Not to say that the idea is fundamentally flawed (The American Adventure at Epcot uses the same basic concept and runs wild with it, to great effect), but it could definitely use some work.

With a little care, this attraction could be something incredible.

Now this is the kind of healthy analysis I was hoping to see. Good for all of you who didn't view this politically, but rather as a way of discussing a great attraction, and the coming addition to it. Bravo!
