    A controversial idea

I'm going to get right to it: How about Disney tears out the Jungle Cruise? Just replace it with something completely awesome and different. I don't know what, because I'm no Imagineer. But here are my reasons:
    1. It's obsolete. Most of the things to see on the Jungle Cruise can actually be seen over at Animal Kingdom.
    2. It's stale. Every time i visit Disneyland I make it a point to go on the Jungle Cruise, because they've updated theirs and they have really good skippers. Every time I ride the Magic Kingdom's version, I feel very unsatisfied. When was the last time it was updated? Can someone please write some new jokes and teach the skippers how to deliver?
    3. Lack of nostalgia. It's not the original Jungle Cruise. It's obsolete (see #1). And it seems like I'm usually walking right on to it. I doubt many tourists would miss it with Animal Kingdom around the corner.

So that's my thoughts. I could really do without the Jungle Cruise. Now cue someone to start talking about how current management stinks and lacks the ability to replace it with a top-notch attraction

MK's Jungle Cruise is much longer than DL's version because it was cut to make room for Indy. I actually prefer MK's.

I agree with OP. JC is obsolete now that Kilimanjaro Safari is around.

For adventureland, in an ideal world, I would love a retheme with a Caribbean / Mesoamerican theme extended throughout the land, with a full-length Pirates ride and another E-ticket where JC is, possibly Indy with a Mayan theme as in TDS.

    Re: A controversial idea

    First off, no.

Second off, they would never take out Jungle Cruise, would take them more money to pave over it than it would to fix it, however they have yet to 'fix' it which is why you felt the need to have them get rid of it. Not to mention, they also need to seriously consider who's going to be skippering the boats, instead of letting some CPs in for 6 months where 4 out of 5 of them just aren't quite skipper material. Seriously, they don't even audition for this role, so technically anyone could pilot these boats, how else did I get this job in the first place? C'mon now, I'm not even that funny to begin with.

Finally, they also need to manage the attraction and cut the skippers a little slack. Encourage them to try out new lines in hopes they would approve them as OG, rather than telling them they're not allowed to use this or that line that they've used over and over anymore. I do agree with you that Jungle Cruise has lost it's charm, and I've noticed it go downhill while I was there, but I do know that it is possible that they put enough effort into it, they could surely restore it back to it's former glory it used to be.

So what if you have a whole theme park about animal encounters, those are REAL animals, and people know these animals are FAKE, they could care less about seeing plastic animals! They're here for the overall experience, but mostly our quick wit and humor, and my dashing good looks to save us on our unpredictable adventures in the Jungle, because no two cruises are ever the same.

Unfortunately the average tourist wouldn't pick up on all the slight differences because the majority of the CPs and new hires are all taught the same stale boring lines, and very few ever have the nerve to try something different with how management has "a watchful eye" over us just to make sure we don't say any banned jokes, such as "This group of headhunters dancing around in circles means one of 2 things, they're about to attack, or they lost the keys to the men's room." I don't see any harm in that line, but I've been told to stop using it because it mentions "the bathroom" in it. I seriously hope WDW would take better care of Jungle Cruise, because I would like to return to it some day soon navigating the rivers of adventure as it was ment to be.

WDW has plenty of room. Why rip out a popular ride?

While they are at it, they may as well fill in the sub lagoon and put in a cheap McDonald's-like playground...

They banned this joke?? Okay, I'm going to agree with Albino. If they could bring the whole thing up to par with Disneyland's, then by all means, let it stay. But as of right now, it's dying.

In it's current form I would have to agree with the OP, however, if they update it, make it fresh more often and actually put some CM's in there that don't sound tired and stale then I think it should stick around.

    Re: A controversial idea

For some reason, I have a feeling that Disney has a bigger plan in mind that we don't know about, and their first step in their big scheme is to totally ruin what was once a great idea, let's say . . . Pleasure Island. They threw in a couple changes that pretty much killed it, wonder why it isn't poppin' fresh anymore, and then went around and asking people with families "What should we do with this waste of a space, should we a) leave it alone, or b) TEAR IT DOWN FOR MORE GIFTHSHOPS!!!!!1" If they start polling people about how they liked Jungle Cruise, you can kiss their backside of water goodbye

I doubt they would ever tear this ride down. I do agree, it needs a face lift, new lines, something.

    Re: A controversial idea

It does need to either be updated badly. If they could come up with an amazing new adventureland addition i say go ahead and tear it down.

As long as they do not let the huge piece of property sit there empty like they did with the majority of the Submarine area. A new adventureland could even integrate a smaller boat.

    Re: A controversial idea

The problem with the thinking behind this idea is that it plans to fix a problem without addressing the source of the problem, and that much is admitted. The problem is not a flaw with the inherent design or concept for the attraction. The problem is how the attraction being handled. Even if the Jungle Cruise were replaced with the most brilliant idea for a new Adventureland attraction that wouldn't mean anything if it is allowed to get stale and is not properly utilized.

That's the one problem I had with the ride. The scenery was great but the CMs were just going through the motions.
