Re: Do I really need dining reservations?

We're going to the MK for my birthday at the end of March. Called yesterday to make reservations for the Crystal Palace and the only times available for dinner were 3:55 & 8. So I'd say, yeah, make some reservations.

Re: Do I really need dining reservations?

I go to DisneyWorld all the time by myself. I have gone to places like Chef Mickey's and the 1900 Park Fare as a walk many times even though these places had been booked for weeks.

I remember one time I was at the Contemporary and I was talking a cast member at the desk that take care of dining reservations. She was saying Chef Mickey's was booked for breakfast and I told her I was going to walk over there to see if they could take me in as a walk in. The girl said "I don't think you will get in" but since I had done stuff like this many times before I was very sure that I would get in. So I walked over to Chef Mickey's and I got in as a walk in just as I thought I would.

I have been to the 1900 Park Fare a lot and many of those times I went as a walk in. The 1900 Park Fare can book up weeks and sometimes even months in advance, but everytime I went as a walk in I still got in.

Now I am in no way saying that it's a for sure thing that you will get in as a walk in, but there has never been a time when one of these places would not take me as a walk in even if they had been booked for weeks. Now I am a party of one, but I have heard about larger parties getting in as a walk in just like me.

So what you do is your choice. I just wanted to tell you that as an annual passholder who goes to DisneyWorld all the time that I have gone to many dining places as a walk in even though these places had been booked weeks in advance.

The Castle might be about the only dining place in DisneyWorld that you would have a hard time getting in as a walk in, but there might be others. Princess story book dining can be kinda hard to get in as a walk in, but I have talked to cast member at Princess story book dining who have said that they have taken in walks in before.

OH yeah, make reservations! Yes, you can often "walk in" to most places, but you also need to be prepared for a wait. The last time I was there, the Crystal Palace wait was almost two hours long, and I was SO glad we had reservations.

And of course with the Cinderella Castle...yeah, if you're not there six months ahead of time, you're not getting in. ;-)

Re: Do I really need dining reservations?

Really, better safe than sorry. You might be able to walk in...but then again, you might not. I think someone said this before, but better to make the reservation and decide to cancel than NOT make it and wish you had! I've found that making reservations really eases my mind, it means food is one thing I really don't have to worry about while I'm there.
