Trip highlights- 1/10-1/18

We got to have a "trip of a lifetime" experience this trip. We have a cast member friend get us rooms at 60% off! We stayed at the Grand Floridian in the concierge building Sugar Loaf. It was fabulous to have food available most of the time. Another 1st for us this trip was the dinning plan. We never have used it before b/c we didn't think the cost would be worth it but we got it for 1/2 price thanks to our cast member friend! We have never ate so much before! Another fun thing about this trip is that my kids are getting big and brave enough to ride more things. My son is 4 and has been 7 times now but this trip was the 1st time he has been tall enough to ride some things. He was mad b/c he isn't quite tall enough for Space or RNR but Soarin' and Big Thunder were 1sts for him and he loved them! I love how each trip is different b/c of what the kids can or want to do! Here are some photos from the trip. I posted our American Idol experience in this thread if you are interested in that!

View from our balcony! Monorail and Marina!

At the wedding pavilion

Watching the ferry boats from the "beach" at the Grand Floridian

The best part about the dining plan....the desserts

Whispering Canyon... The apple caramel pie was the best...

Notice the Celebrate Today decor

So the reason for our trip was my father-in-law's 50th birthday. He wanted to celebrate with belly dancers in Morocco....

The desserts at Marrakesh...not so good!

Sorry but I gotta go for now....To be continued!

I am still crushed you didn't invite me to come over and hang out at the concierge room in the Grand FL.

Re: Trip highlights- 1/10-1/18

So after the belly dancers we watch ROF....

The spinning globe...

Then we went to extra magic hours at MK

The next morning we had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. Mad Hatter was so good and in character!

Ok, remember this Mary...she will reappear later...

Son got a hair cut and style at the Barber Shop at MK

So we watched the parade and Mary was the same Mary from breakfast. She saw the kids and mouthed "I remember you" to them. It was one of those magical moments for me

Here is my son his 1st time on BTMRR...He's in the second row by my hubby. That's my sis-in-law and daughter in front of them...

Meeting Tink! The wait said 60 minutes but we were out of there in 45 min. The fairies were also in character and quite entertaining!

More desserts...I didn't take many pics of the entrees, just desserts it seems. These are from Tony's in MK.

I loved the heart!

And the chocolate transfer of Lady and the Tramp

Re: Trip highlights- 1/10-1/18

A pleasant surprise was Garden Grill. We had never eaten here before and just wanted to try it. We thought it was pretty good! A running joke was that they would only have salad so I had to take a pic of the salad.

Me and the Mouse himself at Garden Grill

The kids get to decorate their own cupcake for dessert...my daughter and her cupcake

Gotta have an umbrella pic

So while waiting for my hubby and brother-in-law to go thru the American Idol Experience try out process me and the kids took advantage of The Studios photo ops. While the folks back home in Kansas had real snow we found some fake snow!

Here is the fam minus me waiting in the VIP entrance for the American Idol experince show. If you want more pics of that I posted them in the American Idol Soft Opening thread and gave the link in the first post of the thread....

Here he is when the winner of the finale was announced

So after a long day at the Studios with out getting much done other than Idol we went to O'Hana and more birthday celebration was to be had...

To be continued....

Re: Trip highlights- 1/10-1/18

So for the last two nights of the trip we had planned to go to the beach. However, the weather was being uncooperative so we stayed in Celebration at the Mona Lisa and spent two more days in the parks.

Here is the Mona Lisa

From our balcony...the pool area. Too bad it was too cold to enjoy it!

The last day we had breakfast in Celebration and strolled the market for a bit before having to get to the airport...

Well, that's about it for the trip. We had such a good time and we were truly blessed to have a friend help make this a trip we will never forget!
