Doesn't matter. Tom and his family are still "celebrities", and as such, I can see the powers at Disney using this as an opportunity for marketing. By the response in this thread and the fact that people feel it's important to discuss it here, is proof of that.

I don't know what this comment is supposed to mean.

However, Tom was on his way to DAYTONA for the 500, where he drove a pace car, I believe. He's been into racing since "Days of Thunder".

Clearwater, Florida is the world center for Scientology. Some of the locals would say the moved in and brought up the town.

ME? I find the use of Cult Members for marketing purposes to be insulting and in poor taste, and I'd expect Disney to know better. Hell, why not feature Al Qaeda in some ads, too.

That comment was insulting and in poor taste. While I don't particularly like Mr. Cruise or his religion, I can still find joy in these Suri Cruise pictures.

Apparently, some of us have a much broader definition of "cult member" than you. I'd say 90% of the Earth's population belong to some cult or another...

Re: Tom, Katie, Suri and Connor Cruise visit Magic Kingdom

Studies of religious, political, and other cults have identified a number of key steps in coercive persuasion:
  1. People are put in physically or emotionally distressing situations; ( clearing )
  2. Their problems are reduced to one simple explanation, which is repeatedly emphasized; ( thetans )
  3. They receive unconditional love, acceptance, and attention from a charismatic leader; "All I'd have to do is mention anything that was Scientology related, and suddenly someone (who was also a Scio) nearby who heard it became my best friend, or acted as such. Truly, you have to experience it to believe it."
  4. They get a new identity based on the group; "Then I thought...now I know"
  5. They are subject to entrapment (isolation from friends, relatives, and the mainstream culture) and their access to information is severely controlled. "Relegating outsiders to the status of reduced value or non-person."

Just a gentle reminder that religious talk should be in the Debate Lounge.
Please take any more discussion on the Cruise family's religious views there
Thank you!

You can buy time. It's like $100 a character an hour.

You know I think that's the first picture of Suri where she doesn't have her hands clapped over her ears or hiding her face. I feel soooo bad for that poor girl.
