Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

In my limited experince, TTC has more range.

I've seen MILF be comically funny.
I've seen TTC be comically funny with adults, sweet with little kids, and just plain fun. (Watching Crush just swimming around, hanging loose, makes me feel happy rather than just make me laugh.)

Do both attractions last the same amount of time?

Three reasons why Turtle Talk with Crush seems more popular than MILF:

1) Kids are more attracted to and fascinated by sea creatures than monsters.

Secondly) Magic Kingdom has many more attractions that target the younger set than Epcot, and therefore Turtle Talk gets a heavier concentration of kids in one place.

C) The Finding Nemo ride pulls a lot of kids into The Seas With Nemo and Friends pavilion. The kids are already in the building, and Turtle Talk is right there, so it's natural to just do it. MILF has no such "lead-in."

Yeah I imagine that Crush is a much more popular Disney character with kids than Mike anyway.

But, MILF is right at the enterance to Tomorrowland, so why not do it as you go into the land? I understand what you mean, but one would think that being in such a prime area with a giant marquee would draw in guests.

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

Can we please find another abbreviation for that attraction, other than MILF?

Personally, I'm scared to be picked on after seeing it once! It also just wasn't something I really feel the need to visit again. As everyone else said, Turtle Talk is more intimate, and it also varies more.

Because who really doesn't want to hear duuuuuude 196 times in 10 minutes?

And I am too old because someone had to 'splain to me the 'bad' meaning of MILF. I am still convinced that most people over 25 have no clue.

But I am never staying at the ***.

Haha yeah, as a college student who hears that term a lot, I winced when they picked the current name over its original "Monsters Inc. Comedy Club," because I realized how it'd be abbreviated. But oh well

Next time you go, give it a chance again. They changed many of the show elements since it opened, and it flows much better - and is quite funnier.

I've seen the MI Laugh Floor, but I haven't seen Turtle Talk. I very much enjoyed the Laugh Floor, but I think people might like TT better because it's a smaller audience so you probably get to talk to Crush yourself more.

Does that mean we'll get to see this show together when you visit in April?

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

I agree with pretty much every reason that has been listed here, especially the one about funny vs. not funny, and the Turtle Talk lead-in provided by the Nemo ride. But I also believe Laugh Floor doesn't do itself any favors with its premise.

Turtle Talk is simple, sweet, to the point. The name really says it all. You get to talk with a turtle, plain and simple. It's the talking (i.e. the interactive activity) that is appealing, and the attraction takes a great idea and doesn't screw it up.

By contrast, Laugh Floor is about as convoluted a premise as you can get. First you need all these backstory from the movie about why Monstropolis needs laughs (and the preshow refresher course doesn't help with making it comprehensible). Second, the show is in tomorrowland (what?). Third, it's a comedy club format, so the interactive aspect of it doesn't really have much to do. Fourth, it has to be consistently funny (which it isn't). And Finally, they've tried to add this thing about texting jokes to make it even more interactive, except how many funny jokes are actually short enough for a text message? My experience has been that you get the same text jokes over and over. I hear that "Seven ate Nine" joke a LOT.

Meaning.. no one bothers to text jokes and they are recycling a script?

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

Quite frankly, Turtle Talk is much more advertised than the Laugh Floor. I haven't actually seen the Laugh Floor, but I love Turtle Talk. Also, Turtle Talk is one of the only real ride/attractions that Epcot really has to offer. The Laugh Floor can easily get swallowed by all the other classic Disney rides -- personally I question why they chose to put it in the Magic Kingdom at all, it really doesn't fit.

I actually think Monsters Laugh Floor is very funny and with jokes as dry and memorable as the Jungle Cruise. Every trip I've taken to WDW during MLF operating days I've seen it multiple times and yes a few parts are the same and not so funny the 4th time around but the entire experience is better every time with a whole new set of people experiencing for their first times and I love to enjoy an attraction with nearly everyone is ther for their first time.

I remember walking out of Turtle Talk knowing that adults don't really get to participate in the show, I mean it's really for kids and does have the same jokes over and over again so its really no different than MLF. I loved the feeling of walking out of Turtle Talk but I would never see myself walking out of MLF.

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

I think that the interactive technology is a tool to tell a story, just like a ride vehicle or show lighting or the script. It's how the tools are used that make the attraction. The interactive part of the Crush show is warm, intimate, interesting, and completely different every show. The interactive part of the MI show just doesn't come up to that level. It's not warm at all, the characters (other than Mike W.) are not really that likable, and the overall show just doesn't play as well as a close conversation with a turtle. The technology works well with Crush, and not so well with MI.
