Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

I've seen both of them, and they both seem like really creative uses of that live character technology. Turtle Talk was very interactive, but MI seemed equally so, and was hilarious. What's the difference?

Turtle talk is funny.......Monsters isn't.

I LOVE Turtle Talk. I couldn't stand Monsters the time we saw it. we've totally skipped it our last 2 trips.

Doesn't Turtle Talk also have a smaller capacity? I haven't actually been to the one in FL, but comparing the size of Monster Inc (which I have done) and Turtle Talk (in CA), I would think that the size of the theater would have something to do with the waits.

Turtle Talk you get to ask a character. Now really how many kids would LOVE to go up to Mickey Mouse and ask what is his favorite food or something like that? That is what kids get to do in Turtle Talk.

Yep, it does. I think that may have something to do with its popularity as well: Turtle Talk is a very intimate setting, where anyone can talk, whereas Monsters Inc is more of a comedy show, and you only talk if they pick you out of the audience.

I think the intimacy of turtle talk helps is popularity. Another reason i see Turtle talk as being more popular is that it is much more believable to see the turtle behind what is suppose to be an aquarium than monsters projected on a screen

Maybe people realize how terribly out of theme Laugh Floor is and therefore refuse to submit to their corporate masters (yet remain woefully ignorant when the next High School Musical comes along)?

Well, that's my hope.

High School Musical would be far more popular if it was done in a simulator theater like Turtle Talk ..just a farce of computer enhanced imagery in conjunction with live interactive humor.

You mean Zac Efron isn't computer generated?

I knew there was something wrong about Zac ..but decided Disney was experimenting with stereophonic animatronic's. After reconsidering, it's probably easier and cheaper for Disney to just .. like you say ..computer generate him.

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

I think the group has hit the nail squarely on the head, Turtle talk is small and feels like a one on one conversation with Crush. They have a lot of different scripts for different questions and it has a genuine quality to it.

MILF, in short, is trying too hard. They are trying to be funny where crush just is, and there really isn't as much interaction, shining a spotlight on a guy and telling everyone he's buying churros or picking on the same guy in the audience as that guy gets old after the second time around. I've heard better jokes on a elementary school playground and sadly that's the audiance they seem to be going for with thier jokes.

Texting in jokes is an interesting idea but again it just misses the mark, making the whole thing more detached, and less likely for guests to "connect" with the monsters. We all know why the Disney censors want it that way, after all you never know what kids will say, but it would be so much better to have the kids or adults tell their jokes to the monsters in the theter that's the way to get the interaction with the "living characters" that they where trying for...

What the others have already said:

Thematically, Crush works better - in the undersea world of the Living Seas, it makes sense that we are looking out a window to see Crush. Looking at screen in a comedy club makes much less "sense"...an interacting audio-animatronic would have worked better (and would have been more expensive, so not a chance at WDW). Plus, Crush is a more likeable character, the show is more polished, and doesn't rely on gimmicks like texting.

I never saw turtle talk, but I did see MI. I didn't think MI was that bad. From the comments above, I guess I may change that opinion after I have seen Turtle talk.

Re: Why is Turtle Talk with Crush so popular, and MI Laugh Floor isn't?

Turtle Talk is what... like an A or B ticket right? If that's the case then Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is the same ticket.... but in an E-Ticket sized building.

I think a lot of the experience is the same but your expectations go much more when you have to wait in a longer line. MILF seems like a great thing for WHILE you wait in line for something good.
