My mom LOVES picnics. But I don't think this was going on while we were there, or else we would've done it for sure! It's a neat idea.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

Ok... maybe I am getting this wrong but.. is the point of opening picnic areas in the park is for guests to buy food at the park's restaurants and take out to the picnic area to eat? Or for guests to bring in food from outside?
Either way, the only problem I see with this is.. people lounging in those tables just to rest, while others who can use them to eat have to stand around looking for a place to sit.

I think the point is to buy this new picnic thing BECAUSE they are bringing outside food I wonder how busy the tables to get.. that is a good point.

Ok, they are selling a new picnic in the park. I think they will have to sell it at walmart prices.. but I think the idea is cute. I can not think of a nicer park to enjoy the outdoors more than DAK.

!

I am guessing this is why they started with DAK, and are using the reusable bags for the promotion. However, it's a good point to anticipate the need for the tables and see how many people purchase the lunches vs. how many tables will be available for use.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

I think it's a cute idea! And like TDLFAN said DAK is the best park for it. We have a group of 25 going this summer, I think this is defintely something for us to check out

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

I like the idea, I think the price point is fair with the prices they are currently charging in the park. I like the interesting options but would be interested in seeing just how much of a side you get with the meal. All in All I think it's a win for the guest and for Disney. I would hope that the picnic areas are in areas you would want to sit and people or animal watch.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

In theory this seems like a novel idea that brings something new to the (picnic) table. Besides TDLFan's valid concern about non-eaters using the tables, my main concern would be the after meal waste. Considering how WDW has cut back on janitorial services will these areas get an increased focus on cleanup? Is there a trash can near each table?

Sure, in a perfect world everyone picks up their own trash, but it's been a long time since this (WD)World has been perfect.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

I'll be checking it out next time I go, but that's not until December, so who knows if it will change or not by then.

And, I've always had mac and cheese as either a main dish or side. I'm from SOUTHERN California, so maybe it is a southern thing! lol
